OK im on dial up and ive been downloading cs 1.6 for like 12 hrs now and it only shows me the steam activity and how fast the download is going...is there a way to check the progress because its almost like its never going to finish...im going to leave in on tonight for a total of 10hrs probably and if its not done i have got to be doing something wrong...im on 56k btw.K im on dial up and ive been downloading cs 1.6 for like 12 hrs now

I think you could have trouble playing it on a 56k, it was designed for BB, and dosent steam also download while you play ?, if thats the case then good luck :p

Ofcourse, steam is preloading 1.2 gigs of cache. Then it updates the mods.

Btw it took me like 15 mins to get 1.2 gigs down...the speed was 1.2meg a sec

1.2 gigs huh? my whole steam folder is only 462MB....but i only have CS downloaded, i turned off the updates for the others cause i dont have the HD space at the moment.

but yeah, maybe if it was updating all games it would be 1.2 gig, but not for cs only.
