Lyrics:
Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks
You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly
Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain
You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud
You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins
How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do
Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul
And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

Pearl Jam's Ten ****ing ruled, and they had a few excellent songs after that as well. Somehow, someway, I had heard their first demos and shit is brilliant, but like most every band, they just aren't the same after the fame.

He only got famous for his lyrics of the era during the 60's when it was cool to be a anti-war protester.
I really don't get why he has/had so many fans. It certainly wasn't his talent.

Well, I can understand why he's famous, because he writes awesome lyrics. But even in that song, you can tell singing isn't his strong point. I'd give him huge props though for going on tour singing when he's not that good at it. It sounds good anyway. All I think Saturos meant was that Eddie Vedder singing Bob Dylan seems like it was meant to be. For Eddie to front Bob Dylan, nothing would have been more awesome.

In my opinion, just because his voice isn't pretty doesn't mean it isn't good. Plus, he is really skilled singer; fair range but awesome control.
Neil Young on the other hand, while his voice is passable, it's because he is one of the greatest guitar players that he is so awesome.

Neil Young on the other hand, while his voice is passable, it's because he is one of the greatest guitar players that he is so awesome. No doubt, the lyrics to some of his songs like "House of the Rising Sun" is great, but just maybe the songs I've heard him play weren't exactly his "brightest" moments. Some of Dylan's songs are just so monotone and lifeless it seemed to me.
I've heard other cover bands perform House of the Rising Sun with superior melodic and symphonic elegance tbh.

I don't think it's his song because I heard somewhere that they don't know who wrote it. I also heard it was hundreds of years old. This could all be bullshit however.
I'm not a Dylan fan, but that song came on today and I thought he sung it with a ton of emotion. Then I remembered this thread.
Anyway, I think I heard a better version of it than the one I posted, because it didn't seem the same.

Pearl Jam are the greatest rock band of the last 20 years.
Their old stuff is nowhere near as good as the stuff on their latest album. Lyrically it's their best by a mile.

Those undecided needn't have faith to be free
And those misguided, there was a plan for them to be
Now you got both sides claiming killing in God's name
But god is nowhere to be found, conveniently
Walking tightrope high over moral ground
Seeing visions of falling up somehow

Her son's slanted
Always giving her
The sideways eye
And empty chair where dad sits
How loud can silence get?
And mom, she reassures
To contain him
But it's becoming a lie
She tells herself
And everyone else
Father is risking
His life for our freedoms
Parachutes is also a weird awesome song that's different from what they usually do - http://tinysong.com/21B

I don't think the lyrics you posted are anything special.
Shower in the dark day
Clean sparks driving down
Cool in the waterway
Where the baptized drown
Naked in the cold sun
Breathing life like fire
Thought I was the only one
But that was just a lie
Cause I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
And I thought it was the 4th of July

You need to stop listening to Pearl Jam's early songs. If you keep listening to Alive over and over then that's your fault. Their newer stuff is completely different and better than the early stuff.

Alice in Chains have loads of good songs. Do you own any albums? They're one of the few bands that have some albums where every song is good. Try Dirt and Facelift at first.

Hey, **** you. Pearl Jam owns your ass and you're just afraid to ADMIT IT! >:l
I feel that the word "grunge" is dead, not the music. I hate to label any kind of music, but that's the only way you can find what you want sometimes, but the "Grunge" era was mostly straight up rock& roll. They just call certain bands grunge because they came out, or hit it big in the 90's and kinda faded away. The phrase grunge is dead. The music made by "Grunge" bands is still Rock & Roll, so the music style is not dead.

Grunge is just punk rock. Just look at Mudhoney - half their songs are 2:30 long or less. And Nirvana and Pearl Jam are so opposite that they can't both be grunge. Pearl Jam have always been "rock".

I have listened to all of these bands, and Nirvana is the only one that sounds like Nirvana. Alice in Chains is definitely unique, Pearl Jam is a little more upbeat, and happier than Nirvana, and Soundgarden is... ...Soundgarden.
