On the first go. We always take for granted in a game our ability to resurect so much. If one was cought in any such situation is one's life you wouldn't get a second chance. So I put this question to the forum: Have you ever completed a game, on the first go, without any kind of deaths or mission failed screens? In games where you can't actually die having to repeat a certain task you've failed (a challege in Tony Hawks say) or using Vita Chambers counts as dying/failing. This is a question about games with narratives, so MP deathmatches and sandboxes where there is no way of failing obviously don't count.

I can't think of a singe instance where this is the case for me. Getting by on the skin of your teeth the first time is so much more exciting than dying and repeating, eg, the HL2 EP2 finale (I finished that without dying, but I died elsewhere in the game).

Yeah today actually, I beat Civilization Revolution without reverting back to save or losing a city. I also beat it 3 times today (i'm renting it) but stopped because it was too difficult for me to get the Technology win without restarting a whole new game

I completed bioshock first playthrough without dying or reloading saves.

I've no idea what using a vita chamber is like.

This was on normal setting though, so im no hero...

Oh and Sins of a Solar Empire. RTS games are the easiest not to die, simply because you have so many lives but your existence is strong

I might have completed HL2Ep1 or Ep2 without dying on my first play through, since it's pretty easy on normal. I don't know for sure though.

I've always died at least once on a first playthrough...

Also I've tried difficulty mods for HL2 and Far Cry where the enemies weapons do as much damage as yours do for realism sake. And it's hard as hell, died very frequently. Just goes to show that if these game scenarios were real, it would be next to impossible to make it out alive...

Bubble bobble on NES. Somehow I decided I'll play this on one sitting straight trough without dying once. Hours of spent time check, frustration check, controller broken with scisors check, goal completed CHECK F CHECK! :D

You didn't die, why were you frustrated?

Yea but I died alot before I made it. If I remember correctly I died at the second last level and then destroyed my controller.

Same here.

Although I might have to revert back a save because I am at the part where you need to find all the chlorophyll solutions and I've found only 6/7 and I have forgotten where I have been.

what you meant to say is...no modern game is worth replaying. ;)

I think he meant without having to revive , I know I meant that. Also it is Vita chamber , if it were Vista-chambers they would be crashing all the time.
