View Full Version : Which enemies will (or won't) return?

The Overwatch Transhuman Forces, Hunters, advisors, zombies, barnacles and leeches are obligatory. No (or little) doubt that we will meet those fellows.
Not sure about the rest of the already seen enemies.
Civil protection and stalkers are a big no-no, and they already made their last appearance with Episode One. Same with rollermines, snipers and apc's probably.
Also, the elites seems to have more or less disappeared. I think they will make a major appearance again, as the Combine seem to have a great interest in Borealis. Unless of course most of the elites really are dead.
I doubt we'll see any antlions at all.
I hope we don't get any more hunter-chopper fights. Not necessary. I don't think we will meet any of them either.
Gunships and striders are some impressively overplayed bosses. We have killed so many of those guys, but seeing as there were gunships on the bridge in Freeman Pontifex, I think gunships will return. Since a huge pack of striders failed their task in the end of Episode Two, I don't think they are going to return.
Scanners will most likely return in some form.
I don't even want to think about manhacks. I hate those things.
Ichtyosaur, mortar synth and crab synth. Yes, please.

I would guess just about all the baddies would make a return, except for maybe the antlions (I doubt they can survive in the cold that well).
I have a feeling we'll see some Advisors and I think it would be a fresh change to fight a hunter-chopper than a gunship or strider at this point (I agree that they're overplayed).

Stalkers will be in it, if the concept art is accurate. That place would be stalker central.

I swear we better not face more Antlions, and no Valve, no Snow Antlion before you even think about it.
I hope we get a classic Half-Life type enemy.

Houndeyes seem like cold-loving creatures.

It's most likely the Combine will return and hope there's Snow Combine forces.

Would be cool if there was a Gargantua dwelling in an abandoned quarry and tries to fight an advisor ;)
I want to see species of snow dwelling houndeyes too
I would hate to think that there are Zombies to encounter

Probably no more Antlions. Episode Two took the Antlion concept as far as it could probably go. Plus the fact that I couldn't see Antlions doing too well in arctic conditions.

They were really annoying, but I don't know if they're going to return. Though, if they do return maybe they'll be allies.

Snarks....tons of them.....on the borealis (Its possible that borealis brought them back after it returned to normal space/time) and you have to fend them off by fire
Cremator is a must, I have always wanted to fight them, long before Half-Life 2 was released

I dunno if the Combine would bother having Artic-specialised troops... considering how powerful they are compared to Earth forces, they wouldn't bother with any form of camo, and I can't see them bothering with skiing missions, lol. Any transhumans in the area are probably only gonna be facility guards / inside troops. The anti tank mission described in Raising the Bar would be frigging incredible though.

I would think more Elite Combine troops if anything - they do wear white, after all.

Hunters will definitely make a return. They attacked the rebels that located the Borealis in the transmition Judith sent. Plus a lot of work went into them to just have them appear in one episode, not to mention that they're pretty cool and interesting to fight.

Personally would like to see the Female Combine Assassins. As much as I'd love to see the Cremator, I don't see it happening as his role (according to "Raising the Bar") was meant to be clearing dead bodies in City 17 and we have long left there.

I believe they became the fast zombies.
And yeah, the return of hunters is so bloody obvious.

No it was the assasin/prowler whose AI was recycled for the fast zombie's AI.

Snow Bullsquids/Houndeyes.

snow bullsquids would be unnecessary. There was a bullsquid living in the freezer in HL1. They are also seen quite a bit in radioactive waste. Im convinced they can live just about anywhere.

Snarks need to return; I miss them.
I mean 2 or 3 attacking you was hilarious, but imagine a swarm doing the same thing
Somebody demonstrated a swarm of them

Lmao, reminded me a lot of the original Mummy, where the scarabs would all crawl on the victim and as soon as the die they all quickly swarm off...

Imagine a group of Houndeyes suddenly popping their cute little eyeball covered faces out of the snow to murder you. Maybe even a Bullsquid emerging from under you to grab you with its tentacled maw. Wouldn't see it coming.

Hunters will return, but I imagine their feet are not accustomed to icy conditions
