Question about resolution..

How do you play hl2/tf2 in 1680x1015 (widescreen)? I tried the video settings and there is no option for it in there. Is there a way to play in this resolution so that my new monitor can get the full effect?

There should be a dropdown for choosing the aspect ratio, that resolution should show up when you select 16:10 ratio.

Nope, there isn't. That's not one of the default resolutions. There might be a way to enable it, but I don't know it.

1680x1050 is a supported resolution, 1680x1015 is not. I think it may be a typo on the OP's part as 1680x1015 would be an odd aspect ratio!

Wow, weird. When I went and calculated the aspect ratio for the resolution the OP gave, I typed in 1050 unknowingly, thinking that's what he had written.

You're right, that must be a mistake.

Options -> Video Settings.

Set the aspect ratio to "Widescreen (16:10)"

Under resolution in the same window you should then be able to select 1680x1050.

If you can't then it's probably a driver issue that is preventing HL2/TF2 from detecting the max res of your monitor.
