Given its troubled, delayed development, hope remained that Mercenaries 2 would deliver on the series' promise. Instead, the usually reliable Pandemic has produced a game that not only fails to compete with any current-generation openworld, but somehow takes a backward step from the original. With uninspiring combat contributing to a succession of desperately poor missions, the only remaining question is whether the developer will get a third chance to rectify matters

I've played both the PS2 and XB360 version of Mercs 2 and can confirm that they are both huge dissappointments when compared to the original Mercenaries.

There are always those outlier reviews that exist to balance the scores out (although there are usually not enough of them). Average reviews for this game seem to be around 80-85.

There are certainly some badass moments to be had in this game.

Such as:

-Popping smoke for a carpet bombing run on an oil platform, leaping off the side of the rig and grappling to a friend's helicopter just before the bomb decimates the entire thing.

-Bunker busting the headquarters of your least favorite faction or the largest building you can find and watch it crumble

-Watch a MOAB obliterate a city block.

-Leap out of a crashing heli, grapple onto and steal another mid-freefall and watch your original heli crash and destroy an enemy encampment.

And more :)
