You heard right (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/54508)
As had been expected, Electronic Arts has released the original Command & Conquer: Red Alert for free to celebrate the release of the original Command & Conquer 13 years ago.

At FileShack you can find the ISOs for the Allied and Soviet discs. Both are about 500mb downloads.

Red Alert can be installed under Windows XP, 98, 95 and ME. Vista is not officially supported, though it should be able to run on that OS as well.

I was a AoE kind of gamer, but I know some of you are fans of this game. Thought I might post it.

This is a good move. I wish more game companies and publishers would release their older games for free.

God dammit.

I went through all that trouble of stealing my friends copy of Red Alert, now it's free.

Fuch this.

Wish they'd release RA2 for free. :(
Instead you have to preorder RA3 to get it.

It'll be free when Ra4 comes out.
