Well, hopefully that teaches him!

I highly doubt he survived that. In fact it's impossible, the way it just so fluidly smashed the car down right through without losing much energy.

That's horrible. Not funny at all :( I really hate these type of films.

Stupid as it may be, it's not something stupid enough to warrant his death. A misjudgment of the height of his trailer to have it damaged isn't the same as the construction completely failing and the enormous weight above crushing him flat.

Okay... Man. I'm glad to be proven wrong thanks to my excellent sleuthing skills.

Just found this from shelbycountytoday.com but I had to look at the cached version for some reason.

Truck/Travel Trailer Crashes Texas State Bank- July 2, 2008

At approximately 3 PM, Tuesday, July 2, a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500, pulling a new travel trailer, hit the corner of the Texas State Bank Drive-In on Tenaha Street, causing the complete awning to come to the ground. Luckily, the driver of the Dodge, Mickey Miller, of Garrison and his 10 year old son were able to exit their vehicle uninjured.

According to Miller he was circling the bank to park on the other side when the corner of his travel trailer caught the corner of the bank awning. Next thing he heard was a rumble as the awning started falling against his driver's side door. Somehow he was able to unbuckle the seat beat and exit the other side of his truck as it was falling.

Mark Ivy of Texas State Bank stated that the main lobby would be open for business while the drive-in is being repaired.

Never been more happy to prove myself wrong! That video was damned deceptive and looked like it got entirely crushed.

How they did not die is beyond me

Raziaar

By sheer fact that it didn't land on them, which it looks like it at least landed on the driver in the video. That truck would have offered no significant resistance at all to that roof.

It might as well of been made out of cardboard for all the resistance it put forth

Yeah, at first I was like oh shit I've just seen someone killed because a petrol company can't build a decent roof.

I was pleased that I was wrong D:

edit - What the fu*k is a drive in bank? D:

I think the more distressing issue now should be... how ****ing easy was that to knock down? :|

Best comment. But in the video it's pretty obvious it missed him.

Everything I was going to say has been said, so I'll just reply with quotes.

That's really horrible :\

This.

the driver of the Dodge, Mickey Miller, of Garrison and his 10 year old son

Especially because of this.

Glad too see they survived!

Thankfully this.

First thing I thought of was this.

I don't think it's so obvious in the video. It's easy to say that now that the truth is known, but it looked entirely like it took at least a little beyond his shoulder if he was still sitting in the drivers seat, which would have killed him. Even taking his arm off probably would have killed him.

Lucky he and his son survived, but damn, a drive thru ATM? That's just the epitome of laziness.

I was thinking the exact same thing. How hard is it to get out of the car and walk to an ATM machine?

Raziaar

Actually, drive through atms serve a purpose for keeping congestion down. I observe at my own local bank that the sheer number of people going to make withdrawals, the drive through ATMS do greatly to keep the congestion down, especially as there is only one walk in ATM and the drive-through ATMS have multiple lanes that service more people at once.

I don't really view it as laziness at all.

That was a weak ****ing roof.

People who say drive through ATMs are for lazy people are just haters.

And yes, that roof is a piece of crap to have collapsed so easily. Makes me think twice about driving under anything like that.. D:
