Though it might get a little linear if you take the suggested 'red' route most of the time (unless it really pays off to take the alternative ones).

After playing GTA, the city looks so sterile and fake. It almost looks like you're running through a giant hospital or something. Too much bright white color for me.
Having said that, who knows it may be fun. Something about it is somewhat intriguing. This is definitely one I'd have to play before buying.

You all complaining about the colors and comparing it to GTA need to do a little more research as to why it's that way. I just watched a video with a DICE guy explaining it in more detail.
The concept is very promising.

After re-evaluating the premise, I think the color choices make sense now. I also didn't even notice the wonderful view distance the first time around, the cityscape looks great. Here's an FAQ I found while digging around:
1. Why did DICE decide to make a game like this?
It was a very deliberate decision. We wanted to create a new IP that was very different from Battlefield and would appeal to a slightly different audience whilst still building on our strengths in 1st person. When we looked at the market we realized that although there were a lot of first person games out there, most of them were focusing on the gun and not the person. So we decided to do a game that was about the person not the weapon.
2. What is the main focus of the game, storyline & character wise?
Well, this is very much Faith’s story so lets talk about her. She is not a typical video game heroine. She does not have superpowers or magic or even carry a weapon of her own. She is an “ordinary” person put into extraordinary circumstances - and it is how she reacts to that situation that makes her a hero. In the same way Ellen Ripley was just a Warrant Officer on a mining ship in Alien or John McClean was “just” a cop in Die Hard (at least the first one). Faith does not ask for this or seek it – but she does not back down when her family and her life is threatened
3. The controls are certainly very unique. What can you tell us about this?
We have tried to keep them as simple and intuitive as possible. They should be very familiar to first person players out there. We want people to be able to pick this game up quickly. The basic movement should be easy – the skill comes in stringing moves together – especially when under fire or in a combat situation.
What is unique is what the controls allow you to do. The feeling of weight in the body, the freedom of movement, the sense of speed – all this in first person is what makes the game feel different.
4. How much focus will the concept of free roaming have? Do we get to run around wherever we want on the rooftops or are we somehow restricted to specific levels?
There seems to be some confusion about this - this is not a free-roaming game – and I think it is a better game for that. We have a story-driven action game and we want you to experience the story. There are however multiple ways of tackling every level whether it is the routes you take or the combat style you adopt. Also the type of movement we have in the game turns almost any area into a mini-sandbox. You will not feel restricted in the game.
5. What can you tell us about the weaponry?
The focus is on physical action not weapons. So if you think of Jason Bourne or on the opening fight scene in Casino Royale. It’s about up close and personal, visceral combat. That does not mean you can’t use guns in the game if you want – there are actually around 15 weapons in the game you can use – you just have to take them off an opponent first. There are also limitations, you only have the bullets that are in the clip and your movement with a weapon is restricted. So you sacrifice speed and agility for short term firepower – it all depends how you want to play the game.
6. We all know about the game heroine Faith. Will there be other playable characters?
No this is Faith’s story so she is the only playable character. This game is about feeling you are Faith - you are there seeing what she sees, feeling what she feels. Every punch, every fall, every bullet impact brings you closer to her. I know it sounds counter-intuitive but the fact that you are in first person makes you identify with her more than if it was in third person. It is the difference between watching an action movie and actually being in it.
7. Will the game include multiplayer? (what game modes?)
Our focus has been and continues to be on creating a great single player experience. There is another game mode but we are not talking about that just yet.
8. Will it be possible for the players to create their own maps/content/mods?
Again this is something we are not discussing yet
9. Is there any estimated release date?
We have not announced a release date but will soon J
10. Are all the versions (PC/Console)of the game releasing at the same time?
Yes it will be launched simultaneously on PS3, X360 and PC.
There's one thing I noticed in the trailer though. They're striving for a game where the character is emphasized, but you aren't able to see her in the window reflections.
Funny, while the game looks really good and quite unique I still think the music is the best.

It explains a lot as to where the developers are coming from.
Tempting as it is to compare everything that's upcoming to GTA IV it's probably the road to disappointment until the rest if the industry raises their sights to match Rockstars latest opus, which might take several months. Things might not be GTA IV standard but that doesn't necessarily make them bad games in themselves.

I like the concept of stylisation of the perfect Utopia, with the bright colours and the like, which deepens the irony that this isn't in fact a Utopia.
I will probably buy this game, if only to have a heighten sence of freedom. Hoping the game is moddable.

And you know what would be the perfect beginning for this game? If you started off going through a government security checkpoint, getting papers looked at, getting retina-scanned, submitting your palm-print, walking through metal detectors, being funelled down corridors through queues...and then, when you're through, you ascend an elevator, and the doors open onto a rooftop, and you begin running free across the rooftops of the city. At first slowly, because you're like "wow." And then faster, and faster, and that music from the trailer begins to build.

I am on the fence with this one. I heard that things will glow red to show you where to go so how linear is this going to be? If there are multiple ways to get where you need to go then I am sold but if is a rail shooter then the consolers can have at it while I will pass.

I'm being optimistic. DICE are a capable company they just exposed themselves to the horrors of issues with Battlefield and yet plenty of people still play that now don't they? I've enjoyed the Battlefield series even with the many problems it's encountered so I have no reason to believe this won't be a good game.

Why Fallout 3? It'll be nowhere near as good as Fallout 1(Or 2 for that matter).:(

You never? Shame, I suggest you don't let Fallout 3 be your first impression of the franchise, seeing as it isn't being written by the original writers etc and thus probably won't follow the established Fallout canon very well.

Same I haven't played fallout before either. I've never been a fan of isometric views personally :|

I've tried time and time again to get into Fallout but the turn-based combat just keeps putting me off.
If it controlled more like say, Diablo or even Neverwinter Nights I'd probably like it even more.
But atm, it plays like a chess game... moving from tile to tile and the like.(atleast I think that's how it played.)

There's a time limit to really experience a game like Fallout. It doesn't matter how great these games were at the time, if someone sees them today for the first time they'll look (and in some repescts, play) ropey as hell - even more so if they weren't gaming around the time they were released. It's the same with OoT, SS2 etc - these games have qualities that can still be appreciated, but the 'omg, this is the best ****ing game ever' has passed on.

I'm not like that, but then again, I am a special gamer, I play all games and enjoy'em fully, no matter graphics, and I'm only 18.
I still play DOS games from the mid 80s with like CGA graphics that look awful as hell, but I have no problem at all experiencing, enjoying or getting into'em.
But as I said, I'm a very special person, I'm like the progenitor of the masterrace of gamers.:)*Arrogance<3*

Don't get me wrong, I like the art style of Fallout... I just can't get into the tile-based movement and the turn-based portion of it.
I like turn-based strategy games like Civ, but when it comes to RPGs... I just can't get into it.

Spot on.
Granted, 2D games withstand the test of time better than it's 3D counterparts but like you said, to most people who enjoy these type of games for the first time, it won't have the same magic as it did to others before. For the people who've already enjoyed it once, they won't mind re-treading through mainly because the feeling of nostalgia clouds their mind and creates a bias view. You remember this game being the 'best game ever' and your mind will likely replay it as such, allowing you to re-immerse yourself and avoid any faults that would stop most new players.
I'm guilty of this whenever I re-play games I once thought were "omg best games ever".

Hmmm not the biggest fan of the colour scheme. Main character is a bit meh too.
^This. I dunno, the gameplay could be fun, but my guess is that it might just be overly linear and repetative.

Well, since people seem to think you were referring to yourself when you said "ME", how about some info about yourself? What is your role at Dice, and how is it working for the company? ;)

Oh for ****s sake.
It isn't about nostalgia, Fallout, especially 2, is a great game, objectively.
1. Powerful, balanced character generator
2. Great writing across the board, from dialogues, through narration to descriptions and holodisks
3. Unique concept - frankly, how many retrofuturistic post-apocalytpic RPGs with a 50s vibe you have?
4. Art direction - cohesive and appealing
It's a great game, and the biggest complaint about it's low resolution has been recently destroyed with Mash's resolution patches:

Around February / March last year I was surprised to find a mail from DICE in my inbox. Because of my work on Off Limits and my portfolio (which also had city levels) they hired me to work on their next project (which was in the big city as well, which you all have seen in the trailer now), so I basically went from one city to the next and from Source to Unreal3 :)
I'm a Level Artist on the project (One of my levels is what you saw in the first half of the trailer, where she free runs over the rooftops).
Working at DICE and living is Stockholm, Sweden has been a lot of fun so far, but very stressful as well (since we are pushing lots of overtime for this game atm). Here's a picture of the main work area where we make ME (yes we call it M E .. I wasn't talking about me ...):
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3088/2541500662_ab32046382_o.jpg
and the DICE studio (the big black building, not the boat :p ) (floor 8 and 9, not the whole building):

There's a lot more pics on my flickr account which is linked to my website for those who want to see more ;p
Gotta go to work now :p

Ey Simon, I think I met a DICE guy once, can't remember his name, last year I worked at Webhallen AB and one of you DICE fellas was up discussing some BF2142 promo with the boss of the store, I only managed to say hi and ask how it's going but he seemed nice anyway.:p
I live in Stockholm too by the way, S?dermalm.:)

This game looks like it's a spiritual successor of ONI. Shooting, Hand to Hand, and new and very well done acrobatic play. Plus with the asian woman paragon
