Shacknews can also confidently state that, contrary to previous reports, Duke 4 will not be arriving in 2003.lol :D

Yes, but does anyone really care anymore?

The simple answer would be yes, but its more complicated than that.

I'm guessing this game will be Jerry Bruckheimer/Michael Bay's wetdream

True. Very complicated. Lots of deep-rooted emotions here. Also some impossible-to-live-up-to hype....

Maybe Uwe will get on the project? A joke of a director for a joke of a game? A match made in Hell? Time will be the decider.

I, actually, can't wait for this game. I may not be uber hyped, but really, thinking a game looks good isn't based on hype, I'd hope for you. It just means I was patient, and I have a feeling the game will be a fun, full of cussing, nudity, redneck pwnage.

The problem I see with DNF is that the original game was pretty big on the Ham, but 10 years down the line the Ham is going to have turned into Cheese, especially as other games (GTA) have had a serious crack at the whip at sending up Americana in the interim.

True. Serious fans of the old ones might indeed find a great game in this, but I for one would hate to get too excited for a game and have it let me down.

As Pitz, being a huge fan of DN3D ever since its release in '96, I can't wait for DNF. But the one bit that is putting me on the edge of insanity is when we're (and by we I mean the public) actually going to see the game in motion. And that not being a 1 minute teaser, but actually showing the game, how it looks, the story ( :E ), the characters you'll meet, what kind of locations you'll see and explore, that stuff you know.

...

And bring back the Shrinker for the love of God.

It's true. I learned the hard way to not be too hyped for a game, because every time I have been, I was let down HARD.

Man, seeing the game in fluid motion would be awesome. I'd love to see where the game went in terms of direction. And if there is no shrinker gun, I'll be angry.

Cool I guess. I was never hyped for DNF in the first place. Hell, I only ever played the shareware of Duke3D.

I grew up with Duke, so I can say that whenever the game is released... I'm definitely buying it on Day 1.

I mean, after all this time... they can't honestly **** it up.

I'm not remotely hyped and/or excited about this but I'll definitely play it. I mean shit, it's Duke.

I learned to stop getting hyped after Star Wars Galaxies.

That said, I am still looking forward to DNF. But to be honest, I dont really think there is any hype. Its a complete joke at this point, and the only reason people are excited even a little bit is because nobody thought it would ever come out.

You have already failed, I know that you're going to be just as hyped as I am for Starcraft 2. By the way, one exam to go (on Mon), move back home Tues, which means I'll be ready for Starcraft on Wed :D

What? It comes out that soon? Or do you mean you'll be ready to play the first again?

I dunno, really. Duke's great and all, but his time has passed. If Forever had come out seven years ago, maybe even five, it still would have been relevant. Today, he's just an old dinosaur trying to show people he's still cool, like one of those crappy glam rock bands that don't know they're so out of style. I'm sure there are still people out there who like him, but at the moment, 3D Realms has only the nostalgia dollar to bank on, and it's probably smaller than you think.

I don't care what you guys say. The '99 trailer of DNF was absolutely brilliant and captured the spirit and atmosphere of Duk3D perfectly. If they manage to make the game half as good, then DNF will be awesome.

The worrying thing is if the Film is better than the game :|

I preferred that trailer over the 2001 trailer. Like you said, it captured the atmosphere perfectly.

Yeah but that was seven years ago. Who knows what kind of things changed since then.

I seemed to have lost any sense of what hype means thanks to gaming and especially DNF. If any blockbuster 'best game evar!!' titles come out these days my usual reaction is 'meh... i'll play it when i can be bothered'.

Even so, the 1999 trailer was rather advanced, and I even remember the trailer and various screenshots that could be found on my demo disc. It looked like HL on steroids :P

I would be surprised even they didn't include a reference there. I had noticed there was a lot of Independence Day, Area 51 references in the first trailer

OK, I let my emotions get the better of me sometimes, and games that I can't help get hyped *SC2* but 99% I Try not to.

Lol, I can't really imagine Duke driving around in a forklift. That would be like Gordon Freeman saying his first word.
