I have been thinking, when we were waiting for ep2 , how accurate were the speculations for the stuff that were going to happen? Not even close. So i think that ep3 will be nothing like we imagine!

It didn't help with the fact that Valve made a trailer were Alyx was shown dangling off a destroyed bridge

I had a look at this a while ago and a surprising amount of it turned out to be accurate. Roughly 2 out of every 10 speculative points on average appeared in Ep2, from what I've seen.

If you search back far enough, there are posts on this forum where I (and others) defend Valve's decision to make a Half-Life 2 based expansion starring Alyx and heavily featuring Dog. We discussed how it could be a prequel or sequel, and how it would take the Gearbox 'alternative view of X' method to heart. What we got was a far more conventional Half-Life 2 sequel, cut up into little bits, that starred Gordon Freeman with Alyx as a sidekick and Dog as a bit player. Be wary of tiny throwaway comments printed in PC Gamer that seem to signal radical new directions, they tend to be a little less extravagant when they roll into view.

That's one reason why there's probably no such thing as a 'Fourth Episode' in development at a third party developer. That may as well have been Portal for all we know.

that was one of the original ideas for Alyx's death/injury for ep 2

I remember when the first screenshots for Episode One came out(I think it was still called Aftermath at the time), one magazine or website said that the storyline was about Gordon and Alyx getting out of City 17 before the Citadel launched into space. That was funny.

They were talking metaphorically.

I can only imagine that unless Ep3 is stretched for time, then visting a whaling outpost might be possible.

Was the Borealis stuck in the side of a Ice Shelf or Glacier? If it was a Glacier then it is walking distance from the outpost

So lets talk about everything we DON'T want in Episode Three like we want it, then it won't happen.:)

That would make sense to me. Valve always listens to its players and takes the reasonable comments to heart and they see what they can do about applying that into their games. People post online in forums what they expect or want to be in the next game or episode, which is likely to be what they also posted in their e-mail to Valve.

OR, they are quite smart in predicting the outcomes and structure of future games. I used to be able to do that. It was really weird.

Valve will release a trailer soon(Valve soon, so not in a few months or so!) and we will feed off of that fow a while, and then wait for E3.

We have the TF2 achievements to keep us going. I don't expect a trailer for Episode Three content within the next couple of months. But I think they'll certainly pull one out by Christmas, if not before.

Ninja: The anniversary of Half-Life 2 might be appropriate.

That's highly unlikely. That's only two months away. And considering two months ago they hadn't finalised the story, the only trailer we'd get then would be a teaser.

Guys, I bet the game will be released by July. I mean, how long can it take to make a game?

How long does it take to create Valve quality gameplay?

Seriously, Valve is not going to release it this year. If they did, they would break the chain of releasing things way later than they should be released.
