Urgent: What GTA 4 Requires

This is sort of important: the PS3 version of GTA IV that one of my internet friends got hold of requires a HDTV to run.

I have no idea about the 360 version, but it sort of would have leaked out now if it didn't run under SDTV looking at the number of people already playing that. This particular version is the Middle-Eastern version of GTA IV, so it might be a localization thing.

Still worth a thought.

I still don't understand the upscaling from 720p to 1080p, how does that work? Does it lose quality or gain it?

Okay for those bothered I went on a researching rampage.

GTA4 is 720p native but can be upscaled to 1080p. From what I've researched it is better quality and performance to run it in it's native resolution (720p) that the game was designed around, instead of upscaling it.
