I'm just wondering what the supported resolutions for GTAIV are, so far I've only read 480p, 720p and 1080i... but no 1080p, anyone know if there is?

Do any of the tech guys know which is better, 720p or 1080i?

Thanks. :imu:

1080i would be better then 720p until you get into fast pased action, with 1080i being interlaced you'll get artifacts when things get moving around fast.

I've heard GTA IV is 720p native, so if you go to 1080p, it will upscale it or stretch it or whatever. I'm not an HD pro.

It's native 720p and supports 1080p and 1080i upscaling.

Can I run it at 1440x900?

Only if you plan on waiting 6-7 months.

Or if you have a 360 VGA cable to jack into your monitor.

So is upscaling better than running native? Isn't higher res' is better?

The game doesn't actually run at that res though does it? I've tried my 360 VGA cable on an old 19" CRT, and even though the resolution is set to 1600x1200 on the dashboard, I'm pretty sure that games will still run at 720p.

I'm not sure exactly how it works. I just know that text in 360 games is actually readable and everything is sharper when I use my VGA cable :P

Oh right, fair enough. :D

You're right though, the VGA cable is definitely a nice bit of kit. Does the job considering I really can't afford a nice shiny HDTV just for my room.
