How do you think that EP3 should be released for 360 gamers? Personally, I think that they should either put it on the XBLA Marketplace or release an Orange Box 2 of some sort, featuring other new releases. (Portal2, L4D, etc.)

I dont care, as long as its available on the Xbox 360, and not on XBL Marketplace, Im happy.

Althought I'd greatly like it if an Orange Box 2 is chosen.

XBL = Xbox Live Marketplace....that is Xbox 360.
And to the OP. XBLA is the Xbox Live Arcade. It would not be released there. It is not an arcade game. Most likely it will be released on the XBL market place to download to the Orange box.

I would be very interested in a new package tat gives more mod support. Y'know, Minerva, Black Mesa, Gmod, the works.

I would suggest they release it on some form of disc format, preferably circular in shape, and package it in a plastic case, so the disc doesn't get damaged. The case could be decorated with an illustration and the title of the game. On the back, they should include screenshots and a plot summary.

And I know it's unorthodox, but perhaps they should include a booklet which explains the basics of the game?

It's a good idea in theory, Ep3 and a bunch of extra's to sweeten the deal that weren't in the Orange Box. But it will never include Mods and GMod, aside from being non-Valve, isn't suitable for consoles. Left 4 Dead is a possibility but only if their release dates roughly coincide. Half-Life Source doesn't live up to XBox gamers graphical standards (and Valve considers it more of a test mod than something that they really want to sell). After all that only Valve's multiplayer games like DoD:S, HL2-Deathmatch and CSS (?) are left and they would all need some kind of work to port them over to the Xbox, which I doubt Valve will do.
In short, I doubt it will happen, Ep3 stand alone or possibly combined with L4D released on disk is what will happen.

Microsoft doesn't do mods.

What about the PS3? :(

Just as a seperate game, the episodes are getting longer, and as I see it, Episode 3 will be long enough to be sold on its own at 30-40?s.

Like Nicky says, I think they're going to make Episode Three that much longer this time, so at the very least it will be big enough for a double-bill package with Portal 2 (and maybe an up to date version of TF2 for convenience.)

Let's have a moment of silence in memory of them and their lost penises in which they gave to Sony in exchange for a PS3.

No, Xbox Live Marketplace is used on and through a 360, but it isn't the 360 itself. The 360 itself plays discs, ala, the Orange Box; the Marketplace is where you download stuff e.g. expansions, demos, etc.

I don't think there are any full length games on the Marketplace anyway, so I doubt it'd be released through that. Unless Episode 3 was really short, which it won't be.

Putting it on XBL market will be the only successful way to sell it.

Yes, it's ironic when the PS3 version looked better than the 360 one. :naughty:

What I meant was it being released as an individual disc with some other games with it (Or Single) and NOT on Xbox Live Marketplace where we have to purchase.

The only reason Im against it is because I dont have XBL.

This is what worries me. I have a pretty low end computer that can only just run the orange box at 30-40 fps at medium/low settings. Since Gabe Newell hates the PS3, it is very unlikely that a PS3 version will be released unless EA volunteer to code it or something. I'm worried Ep 3 won't be able to run on my computer. The prospect of not playing Ep 3 worries me. Which is actually kinda sad.

You can't get online huh? Yeah that's my problem to. But in about two weeks I'm getting a router and a long ethernet cable. So soon I can get Demos, DLC, videos and play online! YEAH! :E

There are many Xbox 360 owners out there who don't have live, or internet connection to the marketplace.

I want a disc. It's the best way to keep a game, especially considering how mercurial the Xbox 360 hard drive is.

I would buy an Orange Box 2 if there was more in the deal, like Portal 2 and some other cool game.

Worst case scenario would be Valve releases an Orange Box 2 that includes Episode 3 but forces 360 buyers (at least, in the beginning, when the game has just come out) to buy a package that includes TF2, HL2, HL2 EP 1, and HL2 EP 2 and Portal. That would not only sink the worth of the Orange Box 1 (imagine trying to re-sell that puppy with Orange Box 2 out) it would also piss me off.

Will Valve even make episode 3 for the ps3? Doesn't Gabe hate the ps3?

Justincase3

It'll be released on 360. Valve doesn't really take steps backwards. And like the Orange Box, Episode Three will be released for PC and 360, with the two of them getting the special care they should by Valve. It's one of the things that makes Valve so awesome. And I wouldn't surprised if it was released on the Xbox live Marketplace. No...wait. I don't know, Valve is an independent developing company and therefore doesn't want to lose any of its rights to Microsoft. If they have to lose any important rights through releasing the game through Live, then they may not touch it.

And I don't expect an Orange Box 2, not with Episode Three's release at least. The scope of the story is too large, with Portal 2 maybe, to focus on another large multiple platform, multiple game project.
