 Ah I couldn't believe it when I got home for work. I got stuck around the tank part of the game(didn't know how to get to the ladder that wasn't down far enough to jump on...looked at walkthrough on net) . Well, she cleaned her room unplugged the console and low and behold it woulnd't load. I told her it would be ok(to unplug it) I thought because i guick saved it but quick save doesn't work if you unplug the console. So I made her play it while I got home from the gym the gym. Almost finished the rail section last night. Does that suck or what?

I wonder how many hours of gametime does it take to finish this sucker. At least I know what to do now till I get back to where I was.

An awful lot of clever daughters around these days :p

There are plenty of gametime hours in Half-Life, and I'd happily play it all through again it's such a good game. Personally I'd prefer to be playing it on a PC, however :hmph:

Me either but I just didn't want to play it again before I finished it the first time. :(

My brother destroyed my memory cards when he did that and I am really angry about that. My 100% GTA San Andreas save went, same to my Vice City saves from since 2003 were lost, and my Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 95% save. That was real annoying. One of the reasons I want a backwards compatible PS3, but there aren't any available.

You have to save (not quicksave) everytime before you turn your PS2 off.

This is why I like harddrives. I felt the pain of memory cards even though I never had to suffer terribly from them.

yeah I did that and I just Quick Saved and not regular saved an I lost a few hours of game time. So yeah, u have to go to mid-game menu and save there

I used to quick save my games on PC. It's not quite as bad as losing several hours of progress, but I quick saved twice in a place where I was stuck. It didn't help. I learnt from my mistake and used Quick Save sparingly.

Use cheats.

I once quicksaved in mid air, just before plummeting to my death. I had to play the whole game all over again. :(

That's cheating.

Why start all over again rather just cheat your way back to it?

Because it's cheating.

Even if I'd played half of it through already, I'd still be incredibly reluctant to cheat. I'd feel like I'd robbed myself of the experience, especially if it were the first time I'd played it. I might not mind loading straight to the level, although I still wouldn't have the same weapons as I'd earnt, and it would still feel rather fake.

I'd I'd I'd I'd I'd I I I'd

Okay, but we're talking about halfgixxerbill, he lost his savegames, so loading straight to the level wouldn't be really cheating.

Holy shit, I didn't realise I had so many "I'd"s...

I wasn't aware you could use console commands to load to a level on the PS2, anyway.

LOL I am sorry you lost your progress but that is funny. What were you thinking?

I remember it either auto-saved (which I doubt) or I quicksaved, just as my health was recovering from a poision headcrab, and a normal headcrab was just in mid-air jumping towards me.

I kept dieing :(
