Im now using vista ultimate (i'm actually suprised how much i like it) and have been playing with dx10 on a couple of games, not noticing much difference so far.

Anyway, when i go into source games it says Directx 9.0c+ and wont let me change it, why?

Thanks

It is because the Source Engine does not support Direct X 10 yet.

Not all games are made for dx10, half life 2, tf2, css cannot be run in dx10. dx10 is like crysis, bioshock etc

Yeah, maybe one day Source will get DX10.

It's close. I know it.

Valve will get Dx10 going for Source when enough people are able to run it.

I remember reading valve were implementing dx10 in Team Fortress 2, they were saying about softer particles or something. Meh, seems im wrong, i had always assumed the little dx dropdown box was for people with dx10.

The particle systems is processor based at the moment. But source games are not particle intensive that it doesn't require dedicated graphics

No what they were doing is taking some of the DX 10 features and making them work in DX9 so more people benefit.
