Recently building my port folio and my art style. Here's some drawings I did for other people, kind of like their personality in a simple stick figure.

http://img505.imageshack.us/img505/1204/personwf9.jpg
http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/9273/realityrv2.jpg
http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/4926/radzdu8.jpg
http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/4350/radzandgf2nl0.jpg

These are all done by a mouse, since I can't afford a palette on my 16 year old salary :(
I also did this for my mother's birthday; which she was quite impressed of.

http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/1847/birthdaycardza2.jpg

Any crits to be had, challenges? I'd love the feed back of course.

These are my absolute first try at digital drawing, and I can say I'm enjoying it -A LOT-.

Your style's really unique. I kept thinking it would be really suited to some kind of illustration purpose like greeting cards, and then after seeing the birthday drawing for your mom....I still think so.

The only suggestion I can offer is that the drawings might look a little more lively if you brought in more complementary colors when you do your shading. It's sort of apparent in the third drawing, where the highlights and shadows look to be just black and white, or maybe some dodge/burning (which I don't reccommend.) The drawings are pretty simplistic, so by using yellows, dark reds and purple colors to shade, I could see it being more eye-catching.

Naph

Yeah, I'm usually shading with a 9% opacity and running through like water colour. I was looking at your artwork last night Kaptain H, (Which is really good), and it's really apparent in your Rosaline picture you take on the more harder colour, oil tone look. Don't get me wrong, I would love to try the harder colours. But I'm not the one to experiment with my art, just ask my art teacher D:

Any suggestions how to, I'm currently using photoshop as well.

I like it lots,

but since you're looking for more constructive comments, I'd say that maybe your work is a little too minimalist, I'd try to add more elements and more work.
But it's just a little weakness, your work is cool. Do you have a website?

I don't know butt about Spyro the dragon, and that's a super-nice drawing. I think it's the color scheme that makes it stand out. Your stick figure cartoony ones also have a really nice appeal, they're more detailed than they look at first glance. Though I wish you'd have used the pen tool or zoom to get the outlines more smooth with these two. They're the only ones where I find the shaky lines distracting.

I notice your lines are slightly wobbly. It's evident in Spyro too. It's an awesome drawing, but it detracts from the picture considerably. Basically what Kaptain H said. Smoothing out your lines will improve your drawings no end.

Edit: You didn't copy-paste the reflection, did you? :/

Bits of it i did.

But I can probably say the wobbliness is due to my VERY LARGE tablet? or the fact I'm just a beginner :P

Dimensions are 30x30cm with a thickness of 1cm D:
As I probably said to some, it's a $60 cheapo made for Windows Me.

But the Timmy and Mira pictures, I used the same sketch I had for the outline :x
There for the Austopia album I'm making, personalities on paper for the forum. So yeah, not so much the quality of work they're after, it's the quirkiness that immerses their internet personality. :P

Also I'm saving for Illustrator since it seems to be a better alternative for this type of work.

Oh man, Naph. That is excellent. You used a tablet for this? I guess I want a tablet now.

If you reallly want critisism, since you did it on a computer you can edit it...

the tree stump coloring looks just a little suspicious. Only 16... You might take a look at some tree stump pictures from google images. You might remove the tree stump, I find it incredibly distracting being at the center of the photo.

The fox rear leg (especially) is kind of sharp, or something. Though, I guess foxes aren't' that furry. I can't tell you how much I love the light coming in through the trees and everything. This is just my kind of art. Love it.

I liked your stick figures too. The fisherman needs a shadow though. I liked the colors of everything.

One reason I hate drawing is because you have to spend all that time drawing arms and legs and details on them. The stick figure idea completely bypasses that. That's an excellent idea. I find it boring drawing the rest myself. I just want to get the face and the pose.

Tablet yeah.

I always hated the stump, but my pen broke pretty much the same day I finished it, I'd alter it but I'll have to wait a week or so.
I'll remove and replace it, it is truly out of place as you said.

Thanks for the crit, I'm really in need of some since this is for a contest ;D
I'll touch upon it as soon as I can, fixing some light, smoothing the light rays and the fox.
Also I don't like how dominant the neck tuft on the fox is :P
