View Full Version : Removing game files and CD key?
From my understanding, when you register a game to Steam, only your account can hold that game and its CD key, unlike COD4 or such other games not associated with Steam/Valve. Well, I was trying to find out if there is a way to deactivate (or inactivate?) a CD Key from my account so I can give it to my brother who has his own Steam account. Specifically I am trying to give him my Half Life Platinum Box I bought a few years back. Is there any way to do that? Thanks

The only way is to contact Valve and tell them you want you CD key released from your Steam Account. I'am not sure if they only do that for HL2 games, but they may charge you a few dollars.

$10 charge I believe to unbind your CD key from a Steam account. There is a process you can follow on www.steampowered.com somewhere which lets you do it electronically.
