If you think it was a bad year for music, you need to listen to more. Pendulum dropped their first new singles from their upcoming album, too.
Hmm... are we at the end of the year already? Vintersorg - Solens Rotter (http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=147964)

Ulver - Shadows of the Sun (http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=164086)
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get a few albums that came out this year that I've been looking forward to (most notably Slough Feg's Hardworlder (http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=155236) and SuidAkrA's Caledonia (http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=128229)), so I can't put them on here.

The Tuss' Rushup Edge EP has got LOADS of plays but it's not strictly an album. At least I don't think it is?

Relient K - Five Score and Seven Years Ago was a great album.

I almost had From Here We Go Sublime on my list.
Could you recommend any other viking metal bands? Vintersorg (first two albums especially; the rest are prog/folk), Thyrfing, Solefald (Red for Fire and Black for Death albums; the rest is avant-garde post-black stuff), Satyricon (first three albums; black metal, but has some Viking influences), I (members of Immortal, Gorgoroth and Enslaved; sounds like 80s heavy metal plus Bathory plus Immortal), Finntroll (not Viking metal, but has members of Moonsorrow in it), Enslaved (first four albums are black/Viking, later ones are post-black/prog metal) Ensiferum (more like power metal with Viking themes), Einherjer (early stuff is Bathory worship; later stuff is kind of power metal-ish), Borknagar (stylistically black metal, but Viking themes; later stuff is more like prog/black), and of course the already-mentioned Bathory (Hammerheart and onwards).

Justice - Cross
Infected Mushroom - Vicious Delicious
Slagsmalsklubben - Boss For Leader (not one of their best albums, but still a highlight this year)

From the top of my head. Alot of people dig Justice, nice to see :) Going to see them live soon!
Have you heard Wintersun? They're the only "viking metal" related band I've had a chance to check out. They're alright, from what I know. A bit like Ensiferum, especially now that they've got the same singer if I remember correctly. It's really more power metal than anything else.

right now im not much for caring which the best ones but the ones that dissapointed me the most.
and that would be wintersleep's "welcome to the night sky". they had everything going for them from their first two albums, but this one just fell apart everywhere. such a shame to see such a fine canadian band crumble.
anyway, i didn't really think this year was as strong as last. in rainbows and era vulgaris were both sweet as could be though. wow last year was so much better.
