steam update porblem

"every time i load steam it updates gets to 26% then says i have another copy running witch i don't. its been happening for a few days. how do i fix it(i have vista)? i would be very thankful."

i submitted this to steam customer support 10 days ago and i still haven't gotten a response;( please help. i cant find any Answers what so ever.

You're in luck. A valve employee named jmccaskey on the steampowered.com site, posted a message pretty much explaining most things wrong with the updating. While it is said some things still need to be solved, there is a Zip file in the thread that should help you out.

I used the zip file, and it worked perfectly, everything's back to normal.

Or, when the error comes up, click ok, bring up the task manager, kill steam.exe and load steam again.
