Just a question: What name of a character in a game will you always know? The one name that will always be stuck in your mind, and you can't get it out?

For me it'd be Stanton Dowd from Deus Ex.. It's just such a weird name, I can't forget it.

Lamarr.... For some reason, There are lots of people with that name. Every time I think of that cuddly headcrab.

I think we can rule out Gordon Freeman, seeing as this is a half life forum...

JC Denton haunts me sometimes, but I've also used the name (Denton) as a character before, so that might be part of it being stuck in my head at times.

"I am not some simple jester! I am Nielas Aran!" Same goes for a few other WoW bosses... listening to their voice taunts every week for months... Ugh.

Roger Wilco.

I'd have to say Jim Raynor, or Sarah Kerrigan. Starcraft was very influential to me.

Guybrush Threepwood is the definitive non-franchise name (obviously 'Mario' or 'Sonic' are memorable as they're tied to their products. All 15,000 of them). By extension I'll always remember Bobbin Threadbare, even though I will never remember him from the game he actually stared in.

By "something like that" I was referring to the spelling.

Samir Duran is a pretty memorable name from that game too.

You know, I've never fully understood that quote. For some reason, it tingles my head, but I can't 100% put my finger on it. Is it a song?

Leroy Jenkins - It is the only thing I think I will remember from World of Warcraft.
Cassandra DeVries - I love that name for a villain. There is something really sinister and snivelling about that name. Another example of Rare's genius.
Tommy Vercetti - Both the most cliched and most comfortable name ever given to a character in a setting like Vice City. I feel way more in character as Tommy than in any other free-roaming game.
Ricky Winterborn and Rob Haywood - How do Left Field think of such amazing names?
Harman Smith - Seriously ****ed up guy.

Qhartb
27-11-2007, 09:45 AM
Guybrush Threepwood - Monkey Island
Manny Calavera - Grim Fandango
Duke Nukem - Duke Nukem
Sephiroth, Vincent Valentine - Final Fantasy VII
Gordon Freeman, Dr. Breen - Half-life
Simon Belmont - Castlevania
Kratos - God of War
Henry Stauf, Hamilton Temple, Brian Dutton, Matrine Burden - 7th Guest (in general, this game had names well-suited to their characters)
Paxton Fettel - F.E.A.R.
Max Payne - Max Payne

I missed Max Payne. In fact, most of the names from that game are pretty memorable.

Finito Brothers, Vinnie Gognitti, etc.

Also: James Bond, and Mr. Anderson.
I'm annoyed at the Matrix for utterly ruining the last name of Anderson. I mean really, it is just unusable without people thinking of Agent Smith.

Ah... far too many. Though I'll list some

Jacob Cain (more commonly known as Kane) - C&C series

Louisa "Buzz" Garneau - Jagged Alliance series

Greg "Spooky" Block - Jagged Alliance: Unfinished Business: SOG '69 mod

Sarah Kerrigan, Jim Raynor & Alexi Stukov - StarCraft

Dogmeat - Fallout

And of course, many others

Dogmeat - Fallout
Dogmeat reminds me of Sewer Shark on Sega CD.

"From now on, your name is DOGMEAT! In the pipe, five-by-five! Four, zero, niner!"
