I like how they've got the yellow/blue minerals. Like in Command & Conquer.
I'm going to love this game.

Doesn't anyone think the Jump Marines are basically a direct ripoff of the Assault Marines in WH40k? I don't care, but then again, the Zerg do = Tyranids... maybe theres some kind of deal? D:

Replacing photon cannons with phase cannons? Unacceptable!

Warhammer 40k is clearly a very strong inspiration for Starcraft, along with the Alien movies and other good sci-fi. I don't think they really try to hide it either, given that the dropship pilot in SC looks and sounds exactly like the one in Aliens, and shares some of her lines. Plus, Space Marines / Eldar / Tyranids are incredibly similar to Terran / Protoss / Zerg.
Reading the Q&A now, I love SC2 news. Mmmm.

Back in the day GW hired Blizzard to do a WH40k but it was cut before it really got anywhere.
And yes, I agree, they are a rip. I do wonder how useful they're going to be.
Blizzard does rip off things, but it's all in good nature. Ever watch the credits to Starcraft? Or listen to everything the units say? There a fun company.

When I first heard the dropship, I lol'd so hard, because I finished watching Alien a couple days prior.

Well actually they're closer to the SoB Seraphim than assault marines. Anyways, yes there are clear inspirations from WH40K, but SC is sufficiently different to not be considered a total rip.
Back on topic, thanks for the news. I found it most enlightening.

Those shields are a crap idea for the Marines tbh.

They're not a crap idea, they just look really stupid.

I like how blizzard made press stuff, they go straight to the point and allways making things clear and easier to get,not like others that show their ego and left you speculating

I don't know, I like it. Well, I don't know how they look, haven't seen that video yet. Good idea, to make the marines more versatile with more HP. The Terrans have mastered science and technology to a large point, why they don't have shields yet, is beyond me...

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of giving the Marines shields, but they look really dumb in their current iteration. Very cartoony, like the old Siege Tank.

128mb minimun of videocard?
128mb minimun of videocard?
Are you asking if it is this or why it is this?
It's amazing but the starcraft 2 forums make hl2.net look like mensa. People are constantly complaining about the game's balance and whatnot. Things the devs themselves don't even know. And apparently the warcraft 3 forums have just spam attacked them for some reason. There appears to be almost no moderation on the forums at all. Sad cuz it could(should) be a cool place.
On a positive note I'm sure blizzard won't release the game until it is amazing. To me, they have the best track record of any developer ever. I think that's saying alot against competition like Square, Nintendo, Valve, etc.
10 million screaming koreans can't be wrong.

Sounds like any WoW forum, except that they usually have moderation

There was some attack by a guy/people on the d2 forums. Hundreds of threads of nothing...just long titles over and over. I wonder wtf is up\=

I read in a questiong about requirements and they mentioned that 128 of videocard may be the minimun
Well, sounds like they're not intent on making Warcraft... er... StarWarcraft (Star Wars Craft?) this time around.

Good! When a big company like Blizzard does it, it should push the technology envelope further. Most of the koreans are probably still using like 32 or 64mb graphics cards since all they need to play is Starcraft...
Technolgy can keep moving forward and I'm happy about that

Blizzard is not knowing for pushing the graphic envelope. Sc2 is gonna be pretty scalable. I can promise you that.

I mean, look at it's games. WoW, from what I can tell, can be played on a pretty low end machine, while WC3 is in the same boat. They are known for making great looking games with not so high requirements. It's what we've come to expect and love!

I just don't get why they would use shields...like, riot shields. Certianly it should increase defense value, not HP, or maybe even negate x% of incoming attacks.

Well, this was a funny easter egg. Looking at the new version of the Vikings, they added a little funny as the caption to the last picture at the bottom...

Nice pages, too. Little gameplay clips, even! That must be new.

I don't understand why there is so much NEW stuff! Why retire the Wraith? It was fine, just needed a better laser for ground support. Why are they using a VTOL with turbine engines?!

Why are they using a VTOL with turbine engines?!To make the game fresh and interesting again. They still have the old stand-bys like Marines and Battlecruisers, but really, if you want StarCraft then just play it. It's been out for the last nine years.

Probably, once again, for balance reasons, but note that nothing is definite yet!

The wraith was my favorite unit in both games, but maybe what they replace it with will be better.
