I'm putting this thread up so that OOC: notes and some GM: notes can be placed here, along with any major questions, rants, or requests.

Just to keep the main chapter thread clear.

Keep the spam out of this thread. This is just to de-clutter the main thread, and I will delete any posts that still don't need to be here.

It's pretty important that you know what gun Ennui picked up, and how many rounds it has in the clip, because that's the only firearm in the hotel that you know of.

So, here are the facts. The one's the average gamer will be able to figure out, anyway.

BTW how the hell am I going to get in? I'm on a roof (not the top one), I'm x stories high and I've got an iron cast bar. I could smash the window, but that seems so bland compared to what Sloth probably had in mind :p

Is it ok to ask for descriptions of things in the post where we would be actually seeing it (IE, like my last post) or should that kind of OOC stuff still go in here?

Also, I thought Mikael was just now coming to you Jintor, not just now leaving.

EDIT: Oh, never mind, I missed one of his posts.

I think I'd prefer it here, but so long as it isn't a seperate post, you're fine to leave it in your main post.

It seems like it appeared from nowhere and now everybody is talking about it.

So is it just one zombie in the hotel?

'Coz it's unreasonable that just one would cause so much panic.

I haven't seen that movie, sorry.

I've seen parts of its prequel, though.

Krynn72
02-12-2007, 07:24 PM
Ahh, well basically, hundreds of people are locked up in a huge basement room, and one zombie gets in. He attacks someone, and that person gets zombified. By the time anyone realizes whats happening, there like 10 zombies attacking people, and more and more zombies keep getting exponentially added to the mix.

Don't forget the power is out and the only light is from candles. A panic stricken mob throwing itself at some stairs is hardly an effective means of transport.

I've been thinking... Why hasn't the crowd discovered the escalators yet and tried to get it up that way? It's not like it's hidden or anything...

Krynn72
16-12-2007, 08:47 PM
Its the hl2.net convention. The crowd is made up of hl2.net members.

Darkside55
17-12-2007, 06:48 PM
Indeed. :)

The real answer though is that the escalators only go up to the second floor, so nobody bothered to use them; they headed straight for the stairs. Now that the crowd is turning, however, they'll notice the escalators.

A lot of people haven't posted in awhile; they're probably dead now. Those of you who are still among the living, you had best escape before you are consumed--by either flames or zombies.

I omitted Beerdude from the list because he is not in the hotel.

Sloth
19-12-2007, 09:15 AM
I'll contact those that havn't been posting in a while, but the GMs will still live - all the guys have a chance of still surviving, so don't write that they are dead.

Just asking, are you guys happy with just forwarding it between yourselves? My time here is limited these days, but at the moment it seems to be going smoothly.

In regard to my lack of posting, Darkside is upgraded to full time GM.5 - ie a playing GM.

Darkside55
19-12-2007, 09:32 AM
I shall remain mum on the subject of who lives and who dies unless explicit actions would cause someone's demise. But for the people who are not posting, we shall assume (in the context of the game world) that they are dead, but I will say nothing definite on the matter, just in case someone comes back and wants to resume writing. I can think of some clever ways a person could survive a flaming hotel overrun with zombies.

I would guess that they're on the roof by now.

Darkside55
19-12-2007, 11:22 PM
There will certainly be a few survivors who managed to run away from the stairwell chaos. What happens to them during/after the fire is left to be seen.

As Monkey said, there would be some people on the roof.

You also have to imagine some people might be in their rooms, or other areas of the hotel. And a hotel doesn't burn so fast; it might not even burn completely. The NPC Clemens set an apartment building on fire with a lot of careful planning and time; I, on the other hand, threw a torch into a pile of wood and lit a carpet on fire. Who's to say what might happen? ;)

Krynn72
19-12-2007, 11:41 PM
I meant those couple of people that escaped when we opened the stairwell door for a few seconds. I would think they would try and stick around with people who knew what they were doing rather than go off on their own again.

Darkside55
19-12-2007, 11:54 PM
Well, there weren't any tailing behind us. If any went down the escalator, we didn't notice them. So presumably they were either still on the second floor when I left, or they somehow got higher, or they ran down to the lobby whilst you, myself, Ennui and Riomhaire were talking and we didn't see them.

Then again, if they somehow managed to get past the zombies on the second floor, they could easily leap over the pithy little carpet fire I set. The zombies were like, right there though.

Maybe they got out ahead of us...

Ennui

As I said, they are probably on the roof. All those people were originally going after the helicopter, and we have no reason to assume they changed their plans.

I would post, but I'm treating the fire situation as Darkside's territory for now, and I much prefer to let players try rather than herd them round like mindless sheep.

As I said, they are probably on the roof. All those people were originally going after the helicopter, and we have no reason to assume they changed their plans.

Well, I figured the panic and terror occuring in the stairwell would be enough to deter them from continuing upwards... but even if it didnt, how would they continue up? The elevators dont work, the escalators only connect the first and second floor, and they just barely made it out of the stairwell alive, so why would they go back in there?

Doesnt matter now anyways, we're too far along for it to change now. I only brought it up because I thought it might be a good idea to have some NPC cannon fodder with us :)

What kind of residences are to the west? Houses or apartment buildings? And how many stories tall are they?

Darkside55
26-12-2007, 06:33 AM
Varying. There are some rows of low houses on certain streets, followed by taller, metropolitan apartments. A few storeys tall. Those are mostly adjacent to or parallel to larger, commercial buildings. Just think an amalgamation of business and residential.

Darkside55
26-12-2007, 07:24 AM
Gee emm point five.

Which is, "I'm a GM, but I play." I'm scaling myself back and letting you guys make most of the choices here. I'm also going to be dictating encounters and external situations, and things you find, etc.

So I'll move along with you guys, and give you backup in the sense that I'm there with you, helping out, but I'm also doing GM things, and my role is less proactive, more reactive.

You could create a tiny forum on one of those free forum hosts.

The problem is that with a tiny crappy host we'll likley forget about it or just ignore it. If it's here, or in this section, we don't really have a choice.
