Is anyone else apathetic to any new game?

I mean, christ, look at all this stuff coming out! I have a 360, why the **** am I not pumped up for Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed? I'm getting a Wii eventually, I should be ogling trailers and gameplay videos of Super Mario Galaxy! I have a PC, but I don't care about Crysis, COD4, pretty much any FPS. Even Orange Box was underwhelming. And then there's Rock Band! I was hyped for that and now I don't care at all about it!

For some reason, I just don't give a damn about any new games coming out, and it feels pretty bad because I know they'd be fun if I gave them a shot. Does anyone else just not care about new games anymore?

I'm in your boat most of the time. I won't even think about a game until I see it played in front of me/me playing it. I gave up being hyped for games....I always get disappointed.

I care, but most of them are copypasta. The most recent example of me going meh at something is TimeShift. Once you get past the time manipulation, you realize it's just another arcade shooter. Nothing in the game weapon wise really "inspires" me to use them.

I had the hat off for about 5 months, but the rest of the year I had it on :) Had it on around early December last year I think.

I still get relatively hyped, I just keep my expectations realistic now. And try not to watch too many trailers - I like a game better if it surprises me.

I don't even play any new games anymore. stopped paying for WoW too so now I'm just playing Diablo 1 and remembering the old days. I have Call of Duty 4 but couldn't be arsed to continue further from the tutorial.

Anyway, a bit of apathy towards COD4, got it just to fill the void before I got Crysis. Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten it.

I have to be careful and make sure I do spend an effort playing it. I may have fun with the game, lots of fun, but if I don't play it frequently I might not touch it again ever.

Im not really that excited for games any more. Im still really interested in them, but I pretty much ignore any game until it comes out. Ive been playing a lot of older games recently, like Rome:Total War, the Hitman games, Legacy of Kain games etc. I did get call of duty 4 though, because I heard how awesome the SP was, and that made me excited about it.

Oh, and Im always excited about Half life games, and related products.

I get hyped on a few games. The last few games I got hyped for were Gears of War, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Dark Crusade, and a few others. I do get hyped.. but only on games I really know are going to be awesome. As all these were.

I'm still interested in games; I just can't be bothered with the hype and anticipation. The only game I'm half-way looking forward to is GTA IV.

I hate to admit it but you're absolutely right, I used to be able to spend hours playing games till late night. Nowadays I just play for 15-20 minutes before I /exit.

But all that's going to change come march.

I know what you mean. I was more than a little excited about the PC version of Assassins Creed, but I have been hearing mostly negative comments. I have COD4, & must say that it is an EXCELLENT game. One of the best FPS I have ever played. It also took me a whole hell of a lot longer to play through than the official reviewers said it took. Easily over 20 hrs. Of course I was playing it on hard & kept playing some sections over & over.

My brother in law is a traitor since he bought a 360. He has Mass Effect & has made it very clear that it's the best game he has ever played.

I have a Wii & totally love it, so I guess my comment above is a little on the hippicritical side.

After playing the Crysis demo, I was put off wanting to play the whole game. It just did not impress me. Rather cool that I could cut down trees with my weapon, but other than that... Then I read that the game was extremely short & linear later on & I thought to myself WTF?

What are you looking forward to in March?

I think some of you are making gaming a chore rather than a source of entertainment. Take a break for a month or so, stick to party games and the like. The come back and try something serious like Mass Effect.

The only thing I get hyped for now is the half life series. There seems to be absolutely no other game in the whole world that has good continuity..agree?

When browsing new games, anything related to Steam or MMORPG instantly makes my dick very limp. Once I buy a game, it should be mine to play whenever I want. I'm not going to buy something that I don't really own, and I have to pay to play it anymore in the future, regarding subscription fees and internet connections. The EULA End user license agreement is just jargon.

Also, anything exclusive to PS3 (Sony's Intellectual Property, i.e. all of their video games) are bound to be shallow and lame.

Plus, EA is anti-hype for me.

I'm pretty excited about a number of games I've been playing recently, and to be sure, they're pretty 'generic' FPSs. The thing that's been making me apathetic though is how unpolished they are upon release.

The only game I was hyped for this year was Super Mario Galaxy, just because it looked so different and interesting. I finally had a chance to play it and it is my favorite game of the year. I'm buying it next week, first game I have bought in about 6 months.

When I was younger I used to want to be a video game journalist but nowdays I find myself playing DoD for an hour or two a day and logging off. I really dont see how game journalists can stand playing games all the damn time. That would get boring quick. The only games Im really hyped for are the ones that try to bring something new to the table, like spore. Damn that game looks awesome.

I stopped looking forward to new games around the HL2, D3, FC days. Since then I don't even think about a game until it's been out for a while. I have to agree about apathy though, once I hit 25 my gaming time took a massive nose dive as my apathy skyrocketed. I still played my share of games though, maybe 10 hours a week. When 30 rolled around though everything changed. I almost never played a video game period. I've just recently started playing a game I pushed aside a year or so ago and I've been spending 2 or 3 hours a week with it.

Having said all that though, I'm done building gaming machines. I'm done buying consoles, although I'd pick up a Wii if I could find one just for SMG. I probably have little more in me than puzzle games for my DS. Just a part of life I guess. When it comes to careers, mortgages and all the other bills and timesinks, gaming simply loses it's appeal.

To be honest, I don't really miss it.
