steam connection issues?

it seems if im online for awhile, i kind of passively lose my connection, but steam says im still connected, but if i try to add someone the search doesnt work, so i have to go offline, then back online then the search works fine, any ideas? also the first time i try to go back online it always fails, and then it'll succeed the second try. it's kind of annoying.

Hrm, never had that problem, you should report it to the steam forums ( www.steampowered.com I think ) There will be many problems, as it is still in BETA.

Make sure you have a dedicated connection like DSL or Cable
Btw steam has some issues but very rarely
