Steam version of Half Life 2 moddable?

Well, the title says it all. If I download the Half Life 2 + 1 pack off of steam, will it be as modable as the retail version?

Yes, the retail and steam versions of Half-Life 2 are identical. Your basically just paying for the CD key when your buying the retail version since it requires you to run it under Steam anyway.

As moddable as certain versions currently available at retail, yes... however, I'm not sure what happens when you download a mod that uses content from Counter Strike Source, which many multiplayer mods do AFAIK.

Of course, the real question here is... why on earth would anyone buy the Half-Life 2 + One Pack when the Orange Box is out? You're paying $25 for games that are farcically called 'free' to all the chumps who invested in them first time round. Lost Coast and HL2: Deathmatch are not good excuses for wasting money.
