View Full Version : Whine all you want, I'm still calling them 'Zombies'

:naughty:
They are zombies. Zombies!!! I don't care whether or not a zombie is slow and shambling, simply running, fast and demonic looking, or even able to speak, they are zombies. Whoever makes a zombie movie or game may take the idea of zombies and put whatever twist on them they may be desire. I mean take a look at Chopper chicks in zombie town (which sucks by the way, plain awful, don't watch it.) there some dude implanted a device in the head of people to turn them into zombie-ish.
Some zombies may die from a headshot, some may be dead-alive styled and not be able to die at all, and some like the infected in 28 days later can die from being shot in the chest. They are still zombies.
Even if like in Return of the living dead it has some self control, it's still a zombie because it has gone through a lot of changes.
Think anyone who isn't a zombie-PETA person will bother to call them infected? They'll say zombies and it's okay. And so should you every once in a while. It's just healthy. Variation is always good. Don't turn into an obsessive fanatic ass.
Oh and I am so looking forward to shooting the infected-zombies! Wohoo!

Agreed!
They're zombies, just like the zombies in 28 Days Later.

Y'know, zombie used to refer to a possessed or otherwise hypnotized person.
This is why the first zombie movie was called Night of the Living Dead. Because zombie had not yet garnered its current definition of brain-eating dead people.

Oh well. Then we got modern zombies, don't we? It's the common term for animated dead ****er. Language develops how the majority of the people use it. And I can gaurantee a majority would say zombies. :)

I hear that!

Funny how easily people see negativity.
The point was, there's no reason they have to be dead, shambling, or - for that matter - embodied of the desire to eat brain matter, for them to be called zombies as such a narrow scope is actually more modern.
In fact, if you are so hot for modern terminology, you'd be the ones rigidly calling them Infected. (They aren't slow, hungry for human flesh, susceptible to only a bullet in the brain, or even dead.)
On the other hand, I see no issue with that term either.
P.S. Yes, I realize they attack you, but violence does not mean hunger. Rabies is known to exacerbate anger and paranoia, resulting in said violence. Of course, becoming a unified homicidal force is somewhat questionable.

Well as far as I'm concerned, the guy that made 28 days later considers it a zombie movie, yet people argue about it and say you shouldn't call it a zombie movie. This games zombies is based on 28 day later zombies, so why the hell shouldn't we call it zombies?

Whoever makes a zombie movie or game may take the idea of zombies and put whatever twist on them they may be desire.
Then my first zombie movie will be about a group of Austrailian tourists who get caught up in a gambling crime syndicate while visiting Las Vegas. Their only hope to escape is to defeat the head of the crime ring at his own game.
Since they end up attacking the boss with their hands, its a zombie movie.

YES!!! THANK YOU!!!!
I was just going to mention that! The zombie survival guide make so much sense of the whole zombie "scenario", however its all still in fiction. I dont have a problem calling them zombies. Its just that after reading the zombie survival guide, all other zombies are known as "fake" zombies, or not really known as zombies at all.

Mike Booth, founder of Turtle Rock, calls them Zombies in a video I have seen recently. That makes them Zombies to me. Here is the vid: link (http://www.gamealmighty.com/nc/video-view/video/E307_Left_4_Deads_Mike_Booth_talks_zombies/).

but i'm using it anyway.
Also, here's the plan for zombies.
Go to mums house, kill Fred, drive to Liz's, pick up Liz, then go to the Winchester til this whole thing blows over.

Are they not supposed to be zombies?
Eejit
08-05-2008, 02:44 PM
Valve refer to them as "the infected" most of the time rather than as zombies.

Something which is "infected" is generally a leper or a zombie.
Or you're talking about cattle.

Think 28 Days Later, I suppose. Basically Zombies, but not called that because it's more "realistic" for it to be some virus or whatever.

The whole 'this monster that's trying to kill you used to be a man' thing was a stroke of genius IMO, and I dunno, but Zombie just fits this prefectly. Really, the only thing that makes them a zombie is 'if they used to be an person'.

Maybe because they don't eat? I don't know... "The Infected" kinda ruins the intesity of it all for me, makes it all seem just that much safer.

When I think about it, I'll probably call them infected. If Valve encourages it I do it.
I spell blue, "BLU" a lot.

Pretty sure I'll be calling them zombies even if they don't like brains and aren't rotting. I always refer to 28 Days Later as a zombie film, even if "technically" it isn't one.

i think that this game is based on Dawn of the Dead. Actually, zombies from 28 days later are not zombies. They are people infected with rabbies. They are just mad sick people.

I vote Zombies. Whatever their real name may be. I call the TF2 soldier a "Rocketeer" because I played SourceForts before TF2. I think the same applys here. And if you say zombies, EVERYONE will know what you mean.
