Confused on if I even finished the game or not...

After the 19th chamber, i portaled out of the flame pit. Then I was looking around for a long time in all these areas, most of them I noclipped to, because I couldn't find an actual way to portal to them.

Then after a while, I just couldn't find anywhere else to go. Is there an actual ending, with credits, to this game?

Do people even bother trying to solve puzzles anymore? Just because the answer isn't sprawled out in front of you naked and willing doesn't mean you have to go and cheat or ask a gazillion people when you've been stuck for 20 seconds.

Yes, you're supposed to escape the flame pit with portals. Yes, there is a lot more of the game to see. It isn't very difficult to get through them all - the bit directly after the pit is, afaik, a matter of momentum. :D

This is quite sad to be honest... the first thing a FPS gamer does is think:

"How can I survive this problem?"

Portal to the ledge above the fire and on the wall to your left, jump through the portal and play the second half of the game!!!

I wouldn't actually call it the last half of the game. It's definitely the most difficult. I'd call it the... last 1/4th of the game. Maybe the last 1/5th.

At least the last 1/3rd. It does go on for quite sometime.

I seem to remember thinking "right, this is where I get off then" when I saw the firepit. If you just look around when you've saved yourself you can see a way onwards - it's just a case of getting to it. That's the same with all of the last 1/3rd - you can see the way onwards, but you really do have to work it out yourself. Very enjoyable.

Dude, that's the best part of the whole game! Damn the spoilers, all of the game up to this point has been training and hints at what's going on behind the scenes, and you're headed for the flame pit when you say to yourself, 'screw that, I've got a freakin' portal gun... I can dodge this'... and then you're behind the scenes. Very satisfying. I know it didn't occur to me until I was over the flames a bit when I figured this out, but you've spent the whole gaming training with the gun - get movin'!

That really is the best part of the whole game and the most challenging but in my opinion its only like the last 4th of the game.
I'll admit i used a walkthrough once or twice for this part but that was only after trying for a really long time.
