Stuck in a huge room with horizontal masher/piston things...

Its not one of the tests, but after when you're escaping. Its just a very tall room with a lot of huge piston things. There's a fan on the ceiling and on the wall, someone wrote "over here" with an arrow pointing up. If you know the place I'm talking about, please give me a hint as to how I get out of it.

It's either

1.Get to the top of the pipes until you can see through the fence. Shoot a portal onto to floor on the other side of the fence and then go through another you make somewhere else.

2.Get on top of the piston in the middle of the room. Look towards the broken ladder when the piston reaches to top, shoot a portal into the floor at the top of the ladder.

Not sure which place you're in so there are the 2 solutions.
