Just downloaded the game again, this tie with Vista Business, and every time I try to run it, I get an error telling me the Bioshock has stopped working.
I verified the files, did nothing.
any ideas?
specs in sig.

Assuming you didn't get it with Vista B. the first time, perhaps thats the problem? I suggest looking at the 2k forums

Tried google yet?
With problems like these I always type something into google like this: http://www.google.ca/search?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=8aF&hl=en&q=Bioshock+%22has+stopped+working%22+vista&btnG=Google+Search&meta=
Maybe you'll find something that works :)

ya, i actually did what was suggested, by changing a line in the .ini, but it didnt do shit.
Subquestion: If the motherboard was damaged at all, would it even run?

"This game doesnt work anymore"
Because it's a utter piece of programming shite.
Wonderfully, originally story, but still programming shite. I've had less blue screens with Windows ME.

I fixed it, but at the expense of dx10, i added -dx9 to the target and it worked...
not sure what else to do to get dx10 working

I hope they eventually make a dx10 for XP. I don't know if it's even possible, although i can't see why not.. it's just that people aren't going with vista much, especially gamers, and i can see this bringing trouble in the future, when games start to really make use of dx10, while vista still sucks

I think I was lucky with this game. I'd been having the problem that some people report, where after a certain point the game starts to crash every few minutes making it very frustrating verging on unplayable. Fortunately, the problem only reached it's peak once I was at the very endgame.
Took a few attempts to get through it without a crash, but on one attempt it held together for me just long enough.
I also think the frequent crashing may have corrupted my video drivers. I started to experience bad crashing even outside Bioshock, until I switched from Catalyst 7.4 to 7.6. Prior to Bioshock I had not had crashing problems since it was more or less a fresh XP install. Good luck to anyone still struggling with the game...
