Wtf. It has been sitting like that for half an hour. Is this client side or are the Valve servers too busy?

Deleting ClientRegistry.blob in the steam folder will usually fetch you a new download server.

Steam servers look good take a lookhere (http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=content_stats)
Maybe you paused it ;)

Now I get a downlaod but its incredibly slow its only 49% done :(

You can continue to do the ClientRegistry.blob trick until you find a suitable server if you like.

Thanks for the help. Its downloading well now(180kb/s whic is good for me)
