Dear Gabe,
I already own all of your awesome Halflife titles. I own every Valve game ever. Why are you forcing me to buy HL2 and Ep.1 again? Where is the package for the legion of gamers like me that have been with you since day 1? I just want Ep.2, Portal, and TF2. God, do I ever want TF2. Please don't rip me off. It will tarnish my image of your company forever. I know you'll see things our way. Thanks a million.

The entire package is cheaper than buying Ep. 1 and HL2 individually, so it's hardly a ripoff. Not to mention that you can give the second "copies" of them to a friend if you already have them.
The way I see it, you're paying $50 for Portals,TF2, and Ep2 (and peggle extreme)...HL2 and Ep1 are free to give to your friends.

Ep 2 would be $20... likewise with TF2 and Portal.
If they wanted to they'd be charging us $60 for the whole package and instead we're only paying $44.
Ep 1 and HL2 are free apparently, but I still don't get why they threw them in the package.
I have no friends that even know about Steam or the Half-Life series in the real world.
And pretty much everyone I know online has heard of... or uses Steam and the games on it.
It's pointless for them to put those two things in the package really.

It's because they want people to play all the HL2 games so far.

Chances are if you haven't played HL2 yet, this would get you on board. $44 for 5 or 6 games?
You'd have to be stupid not to.
It really is a good deal (The orange box)..considering Bioshock cost over $50 and it was just a one-time deal with no re-playability (it didn't even have multiplayer)

Oh look someone who actually READS what Valve releases. If you were such a 'loyalist' to your beloved Valve, perhaps you'd be aware of that. Just other one eh...?
