Anyone remember the old Black Isle and Bioware computer RPG series? Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, Fallout, (Arcanum in spirit). I think games like this would be excellent for Steam distribution. I mean they're still great games that didn't rely on graphics so much as storytelling and character development, which makes them timeless in a way, and they're hard to find now.
I know I'd put down 5-10 dollars to get a few of these on Steam, or like the id Superpack, like a Blackisle Superpack that would have them all with expansions for like 40 dollars. I'm not sure who has the rights to these now, Interplay's kaput, but I mean they have X-Com and other old games on there.

I wish they would put Arx Fatalis on steam. I got a demo of it awhile ago and wanted to play the full version, but couldnt find it anywheres.

I always wanted to play Arcanum. I also want to see some old adventure titles like Broken Sword, Sanitarium (even though, I have the games).

I would love to see them on Steam, too bad I've already played all of them :(
BTW, test, Arcanum is absolutely AWESOME. Make sure you sometimes use a walkthrough to get as much as you can out of the game, because there are so many incredibly hard quests, so many quests in general and soooo many easter eggs it's not even funny.

God yes - only played Arcanum once through, then got the HD reformatted - so i'd buy them in a second.

Does anyone have an idea as to how games get on Steam in the first place? Does Valve approach a publisher or the other way around? Because there's a huge catalogue of out of print games that, when placed for bargain bin prices on Steam, I'm sure would sell a few hundred copies, and in the case of old Bioware RPGs probably several thousand with ease.
I'm going on speculation though, I don't think Valve's published any official Steam sales numbers information have they?

They're not able / allowed to publish sales records without the consent of other devs. But they can post there own...

Man, I wish I could play through the Baldur's Gate games for the first time again.
The old AD&D based games like that were in a league that no longer exists. Those were the days ;(

I'd be willing to buy one or 2 of the CRPGs of which I don't already own a copy (I have BG2 and some others) like.. Nox, hah!

HAPPY DAYS! :D
I quite dislike using Steam for non-Valve games, so unless they added extra support / bug fixes for newer operating systems, I wouldn't really care.

Most of these older games are probably still selling on "classic" labels.
