Really looking forward to this. A couple of buddies of mine played the closed beta and they were very enthusiastic. It's basically the RTS-version of the Battlefield-series.

Were the classes implemented yet when you played the beta? That was supposedly the main thing that made it play a little like BF. I wouldn't know since I didn't play it yet.

Yes, they were. Infantry and armor FTW.

Indeed.

Just pray you dont get a team of goons who decide that they all need to be support and use heavy arty.

Hehe, sprint and TAs :D

I managed to launch a total of 4 nukes. Quite impressive, better than in other games nowadays.

Signed up with my very blood :P

Just for fun, I'll spend a whole match using infantry, even when the nukes are dropping :D

9gb? Sounds like a good tactic to make people go out and buy it, lol.

It does seem rather large in comparison with the closed beta, which was only about 2 gigs :O

Single player? Many maps? :O

Does anyone know why the beta is only for Europe and Russia?

Does anyone know why the beta is only for Europe and Russia?

That's probably because it's a MP beta. Massive is a European company. Maybe you can only play on official servers.

Ground Control.

But in 1989, with better graphics and different factions to suit the era.

so basically, made of awesome.

Pfft bittorrent. I'll be sure to link a few direct hax download links from Internode come release. Also because OP post fails;

There are a number of places around the place which are giving away beta keys for World in Conflict.

Internode (http://games.internode.on.net/content.php?mode=news&id=1489), GameArena (http://www.gamearena.com.au/competitions/wicbeta/) and Atomic (http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/article.asp?SCID=&CIID=85363) have promotions going at the moment.

Aus FTW!

Does anyone know of any links to download this besides the torrent? The highest I can get on the torrent is like 10KB/s.

Hazar
11-07-2007, 06:26 PM
lol, probably not too many people willing to host a 9gb file

I haven't started mine yet though

Sir Phoenixx
11-07-2007, 06:36 PM
It's a 1.7gb file. Either the current torrent file is incorrect/corrupted, or that 9gb is probably the space required for the install.

Hazar
11-07-2007, 06:40 PM
ahh, that would make more sense

I tried downloading it once, could only get 60KB/s. Therefore it would take 7.5hrs. Computer died with 1hr left to go D:
But thanks to this (http://games.internode.on.net/filelist.php?app=447&menu=16) I'm now getting 400KB/s.

If this proves not to be worth all the problems it's causing me I'm going to kill a kitten...

I just played the tutorial, quite fun and entertaining, really enjoyed it.

I'd call it a souped up C&C Generals, but a lot more graphically amazing. Explosions are awesome.

Lucid

It's alright.

Tutorial was ****ing irritating, I'd say for anyone that's played the Ground Control series... just skip the tutorial... everything was self explanatory.

Graphically, it's pretty... but lacks the visual flair most RTSes of today have.(Company of Heroes, Age of Empires 3, Empire at War, Medieval 2 etc.)
Explosions are very flashy, I mean that literally too.

I haven't had a chance to play on a decent server yet, so that's still left for judgment.
