Among the publishers showing their wares to a thinly stretched press corps is Sega. The company announced a quintet of new titles this morning, including a sequel to its popular survival horror title, Condemned. Though no mention was made of a PC version, Sega did confirm Condemned 2: Bloodshot will ship in early 2008 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America and Europe.

No rating or pricing for Condemned 2 was announced. However, an M for Mature sticker is almost assured. That's because like it predecessor, Condemned will have players "engage in visceral combat using a variety of firearms and blunt instruments," according to Sega. However, the game will sport an all-new combat system with a reworked fighting mechanic, and will introduce several online multiplayer modes including (what else?) deathmatch.

Loved the first one, cant wait for the second one.

Sweet. I hope they expand on the crime scene investgation aspect - it has such great potential and was quite lacking in the original.

Man this is kick ass. I guess they scraped the movie idea tho.

Remember reading how the 2nd part was going to be a movie and the 3rd a game again. Doesn't matter more Condemned = good.

Now if they just manage to make it a bit longer than the first game then I am happy.:D

The original was a solid and lets face it, terrifying game.

Perhaps a bit more flexibility with movement would be nice, but I think the slow pace of the original was to build up the overall tension.

It had some great elements, but none were as fleshed out as they needed to be. Well, the melee was awesome, but more everything else please!!!

Yes. Condemned was great fun, and it scared the crap out of me quite a few times. Let's just say I don't feel like visiting orchards any time soon.

Hopefully more light will be shed on the demonic elements of the plot. Everything got wonderfully ****ed by the end of the first game. That said, the increased emphasis on a noir style leaves me somewhat uneasy. Ethan didn't have pseudo-philosophical musings or witticisms in the first game. It was primarily a horror thriller and a detective story secondarily. I also really don't like the tagline. The dialogue referenced in the Gamespot article is totally out of place.

I hope this game has more freedom, in condemned I felt like I was going through the game on a set of rails, the inability to jump meant you had lots of points where the computer took over while you climb over a fence or something.

Actually, I thought the restricted movement worked for the better. The inability to jump was something I could live with. After all, most hand to hand combat does take place on two feet.

The reliance on animated sequences for some of the scaling of the environment increased the tension. Having your view swing a certain way and catching something out of the corner of your eye, but you're unable to get a longer look. Or climbing over a mound of debris while watching enemies charge into a room and you suddenly get this "oh shit" sensation, knowing that you can't turn back.

What I'm hoping for is more weapon variety and moves, a better handling of firearms, more extensive utilization of crime scene technology, and a feeling of slowly slipping into psychosis. Basically, I'd just like to see all the elements from the previous game truly fleshed out and honed.

Couldn't have said it better myself

The only thing I can add to the wish list of fixes and changes is more of the volumetric lighting and stuff, like light shining through windows.

Oh, and fix the laughable skipping when you go up and down steps. That's just silly.
