UK, May 8, 2007 - UK developer Blade Interactive has been busy working on its secretive next-gen title Hydrophobia for years, but has now finally released details about the upcoming survival adventure.

According to the game's official website, Hydrophobia is a "revolutionary survival adventure game which uses HydroEngine to deliver the most realistic water you've ever seen". The HydroEngine has been in research and development for three years.

As the title and above quote would suggest, the game's central theme is water, which is used to overcome obstacles by moving objects and also provides plenty of dangerous situations as you swim against strong currents or get trapped in a flooding room.

Along with this revolutionary new water system, Hydrophobia also uses Blade's new Infinite Worlds AI system, which "provides incredibly information rich environments".

According to Blade, enemies and non-player-characters have a detailed knowledge of the world around them. They remember areas that are flooded, which doors have been locked/unlocked and dynamically react to changes in the environments.

I personnaly thinkg this sounds ****ing awesome if pulled off well!

How is this 'leaked' if it's on the main website and the developers are bragging about the technology?

It's leaked? You mean they told everyone from their website?

That looks pretty funky though.

A survival adventure game with great AI and rich environments whose central theme is water? Now that's just inviting comparison...

Still, sounds cool maybe.

"Water, water, everywhere,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, everywhere,
Nor any drop to drink"

is this the game where intelligent sharks swim down corridors and your character is a chef?

Agreed, looks rather rubbery. Although seeing it in action might change my mind...

You might wanna keep in mind this is still a game in development, and tbh, in a game where the main focus is water PHYSICS, I think they care more about how the water actually ACTS rather than how it looks tbh..

Water for the sake of water doesn't sound very exciting. I guess we'll see.

Water tech is starting to get noticed a _lot_ more now with this and BioShock... Interesting :)
