Ive been listining to the same music for the past year now... I need new stuff. I come to hl2.net for help :). Only rules

1. No rap
2. No metal
3. Post links to myspace/purevolume/whatever so I can hear it before I buy any cd.

Rule number 3 isnt mandatory, but helpful.

I like different stuff too, so if you know any bands that are way different from all the rest, then please post em up. Thanks hl2.net, you're my only hope.

Crap, I messed that up.

Sweet, so far Ive only listened to the myspace song of The Decemberists and Explosions in the Sky. Both are great. Thanks Stigmata.

And I love RHCP, so Im betting John Frusciante will kick some ass too.

Thanks a lot already :)

As far as John Frusciante goes, avoid "Niandra Lades and Usually Just a T-shirt" and "Smiles From the Streets You Hold". That's the eerie shit best saved for the diehard fans. I recommend any of his other records, however.

I recommend you try at least a couple songs from every artist I listed. You'll probably be surprised by a couple of them.

But yeah, The Decemberists and EITS are awesome :D

As for Explosions in the Sky... there's a video up of an entire live performance at Philadephia filmed from right up front center stage. Incredibly awesome, especially the part from the 30 min mark to about 40 minutes when they play "The Moon is Down."

The chainsaw solo is amazing in that song, I didn't believe my mate when he told me about it but my god was it funny.
