Why do people keep buying crappy games! I just need to say this, because it makes me mad that people keep buying retard games and just because people (like you! ya, you!) keep buying them, they keep making them!

Halo - Fun multiplayer for about a week, then it's shit.

Gears of War - Fun story/co-op for about 2 weeks, then it's shit.

Oblivion - GARBAGE compared to the rest of the series. With the next one (#5) they'll probably make it even shittier, because everyone bought it without doing any research, and then it won GOTY (I think, some award like that..) just because of sales, so Bethesda thought they did a good job with it. IT IS SHIT.

ANY MOVIE GAME EVER MADE - WHY THE HELL DO PEOPLE BUY THESE?! THEY WILL KEEP MAKING THEM IF PEOPLE BUY THEM! DAMMIT!

And yes, I am a retard for buying Oblivion and Gears of War, I am not debating that.
No I've never bought a movie game, I have played tons of them, and they suck balls.
I've played Halo at my friends ALOT, it isn't as good as people say. It is shit.

The games you listed are bad examples, imo, they're all pretty good.
But I still agree with your point, why bother with mediocre games?

I think the problem is that great games aren't made like they used to be, or as often...

Halo
Average FPS but great for parties. And it was one of the only good shooters for the console at the time.

Gears of War - Fun story/co-op for about 2 weeks
Not everyone buys games for the multiplayer...

Oblivion
"My opinion = LAW"

ANY MOVIE GAME EVER MADE
I blame television.

I've played Halo at my friends ALOT, it isn't as good as people say. It is shit.
No it's not. It was nothing special, but it definitely wasn't crap.

Yeah same with me. Now recently I've tried to play Halo again but just couldn't bring myself up to playing more then 5 minutes bleah.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the only great thing about Halo is the soundtrack

Storyline and mapping not so much, but the shooting portions were HELLA fun.

Hmm, all just your opinions like everyone has said.

I myself enjoyed Oblivion. No, I didn't play any of the previous games. So what if it wasn't as good as them. I enjoyed it!

Halo 1 was great when I first got it. Played the PC version online a lot.
Halo 2 sucked.

It all comes down to what games you like etc. no need to flame those that do like them :)

Dalamari, Gears of War is awesome on Live. Just awesome. That's why it's popular.

Warbie

Awesome doesn't do the game justice - get 8 friends together and it's AMAZING :)

Its too bad that GOW's online options for getting together with friends and coordinating stuff isn't as good as it could be, but the multiplayer combat in that game really is what makes it enjoyable, especially cooperatively.

Oh, and its good for being a cheeky SOB when you want to show off something to your friends and family members because its damn pretty.

Halo was real cool... but jesus christ the gameplay was SOOO repetitive. How many times can a solider be temporarily enclosed in a room/tight space and be bombarded with a group of enemies one by one over and over again? There was almost no story-line involved and no thinking required.

Jintor
29-03-2007, 09:23 AM
No, there was a storyline. But it was, like you said, a non-thinking storyline.

It was for people who just want to sit down and mindlessly kill things that flash neon colours.

I don't really see why everyone has made a whipping boy out of Halo. . . and Halo2 for that matter. Really i thought they were both pretty good offline and on. . .

I think what bother's ppl about it is the speed of the game is alot lower than that of Half-life or UT games. it didn't really bother me tho.
The way vehicles were incorportated was really awsome i thought. In Half Life2 it was like "okay, here's a driving section." where as in Halo (at least imo) i felt that it was stremlined together a bit. That and co-op is a blast. yes, there's some gay weapons in it (tickle gun anyone?), but other than that i can't find anything horribly wrong with it : /

Sonic The Hedgehog for the 360 and PS3 redefined what "crappy" is really all about.

while I dont think Halo is neccessarily a crappy game however I never finished Halo 2 because I was bored out of my mind by mid way

crappy games:

Medal of Honor: Frontlines ..god what a crappy sequel
Rainbow6 lockdown/all other expansions since raven shield ...I swear it was slapped together in a single weekend, it's that bad
Judge Dread, PSone ..holy crap one of the crappiest licensed games I've ever played
Fight Club, xbox ...what a boring button mashing game ..my friend and I were bored by the first 30 mins
Breed: halo ripoff without the polish and tons and tons of bugs
Boiling Point: the best crappy game ever ..a real gem covered by lots of turd

unreal 2 was a shitter of a dissapointment

altered beast for the mega drive was the equivalent to getting your grandads ashes, adding them to your favourite yoghurt and eating it all naked in front of a thousand people

mortal kombat 4 was like ripping off your right arm and replacing it with salary. ha salary arm cry the neighbours kids in your direction

midtown madness 2....erm....

resident evil code veronica x on the ps2 was like having mash potato but when you look down at your plate expecting mash potato, you get a small albino child kicking the shit out of a ferrett

quake 4 was like going back in time a decade and making a fry up, storing it in a place noone would EVER find it, going forward in time to the present, finding it where you hid the bastard and taking one bite of the maggot infested sausage and vomitting for several hours onto a leather setee complete with your entire family

Well, Saints row because I found its story too genaric, and the locations way to bland, plus the music was all bleah. And don't get me wrong, Gears is fun, the chainsawing is so awesome, but it gets repatitive, I don't have xbox live gold, and I can't be bothered to try and finish on Insane. Wha? How so many of you dislike Oblivion is beyond me, but I guess it is a matter of opinion. I will say though, that Oblivon is definately better than the other Elder Scrolls games. Seriously, Morrowind had absolutely NO motivation to complete the main quest, the ending sucked and it was buggy (it wasnt a bad game, mind you I still loved it). Oblivion fixed most of these problems and improved on an already stellar gameplay formula.

Oh, and Quake 4 was horrible, it was so boring. Prey was okay, but there were better FPS games (HL2, GoW...).

One last thing, if you are not a fan of Elder Scrolls lore, then the CE of Oblivion is a waste of money. Otherwise, the lore book, septim coin, behind-the-scenes DVD and map are worth the extra money IMO.

I don't see the appeal, but if people enjoy it, whatever. Glad they are happy. He said the same thing about Oblivion. It's a completely broken game without mods. I played Morrowind without mods from the day of its release to the day Oblivion came out, but there's no chance in hell I'd even touch Oblivion without OOO and the AF level mod (at the bare minimum).

Halo 2 blew absolute arse (even in co-op! WTF?).

Monkey Island 2 sucked compared to the first one. The first game had some great lines in it and the puzzles actually made sense and had (somewhat) logical solutions. The second game throws logic out the window and places a horde of obtuse pixel-hunt puzzles in its stead. It was still funny, but that just wasn't enough for me.

Red Alert 2. Boring as hell. Pass the Tib Sun. Oh yeah.

Funny, I'v been playing Morrowind since it first came out, no bugs. Funny, the first time I brought Oblivion it crashed in five minutes. There are bugs so important characters die, preventing you from continueing, hell, Bethesda don't do anything about it. They fix a few bugs and make loads more. The quests weren't imaginitive in any way, they just as well have been called "generic RPG quest 1" or summat.
Not only that, the leveling system is shit. Theres no challenge in it, and you can't become an uber god bieng like you could in Morrowind, AND you have to do the guilds your characterssupposed to do last in order ot get the best stuff. Aside from this, the cities and set pieces are dull, the main story is bollcks, it all feels so artifical, the people who thought "hey lets only have 5 voice actors" should be shot, the downloads are shit and overpriced and the expansion was terrible.

Hey Sheograth is awesome. Okay maybe that's the only good point.

Quests? Morrowind's didn't excite me that much either.
Leveling? Completely stupid use a balancing mod I use Francesco's. OOO causes too many problems. Also use AF along side.
Cities? ****ing HUGE for the amount of people.
Voice Actors? WHy does an NPC magically change voice for certain dialog options?

2 things

A) I have the 360 version...no mods :(

B) I shoulnd't have to use mods to fix a key mechanic like that.

Morrowind wasn't for everybody, but I enjoyed it. The quests in Morrowind had rewards that meant something though because in Oblivion you might get a helmet of plus 2 strength! But if you were one more level it would be plus 3, making what you've done a complete waste of time.
Imperial city is supposed to be a capital, it had about 50 people in, while we have been directly told before it has a population of thoasands.

Plus, as I said, the whole thing is dull and isn't immersive nayway...though this isn't helped by the fact that hills are blurry shits till you get near them. If you enjoyed yours, good, I'm glad you liked it, but I personally thought it was terrible.

EDIT: And with Shivering Isles WTF? Spoilers if you havne't finished it don't read:

since when can a mortal become a Daedric god, the only time a new deadric god can be created is if a divine is transformed (like Trinimac turned into Malacath) but a mortal? WTF? Plus, what if you do that then do the Sheogorath shrine quest? Worship yourself?

Hey I agree with you there and being a PC user I can fix many of the things that irk me about the game. I still enjoy the game for what it is and it's a nice way to pass the time some days. Although I try not to let some games get to me the way they do to others.

The whole leveled loot and quest rewards for instance. I've got a mod to fix all that as I thought the idea was garbage. Hell the idea of a leveled RPG is just stupid to begin with. Bethseda being the goons are bound to stuff up again though.

Red Alert 2. Boring as hell. Pass the Tib Sun. Oh yeah.

Wtf. Red Alert 2 was the very definition of a cheesy B-grade movie converted into a video game and stuffed full of... cheesy B-grade movies.

Didn't like Yuri's Revenge though.

It is shit.

It's not a crap game just because you dont enjoy it, now STALKER, theres a crap game.

Quake 4 really isn't as bad as everyone's making it out to be.
It's a great run-of-the-mill actioner with nice graphics.

Now Boiling Point : Road to Hell? That's the epitome of shitty games.

I didn't mind Q4 that much - probably as my expectations were minimal to start with. Run about, shoot things, look at the perty gfx. Standard stuff. There have obviously been far better games, but there have also been far, far worse.

People who say every game based on a movie sucks probably hasn't played Chronicles of Riddick: escape from butcher bay. I loved it, and the PC version did the commentary thing better than Valve did on episode 1 and lost coast IMHO.

This is the rare exception, and a very fine one. Riddick was one of my favorite games of all time. It really felt like you were a person rather than some superhuman Gordan Freeman or Master Chief.

Riddick was a very fun game. Trouble is the dialogue was so ear-bleedingly horrible that I was slamming at my keyboard like a retard in want of getting rid of it. It's so stilted and force it isn't even funny. That said I really enjoyed the game...especially the hand to hand combat. I don't see why it should be mentioned in crappy games at all.

It's Quake, what were you expecting?

A deep storyline with highly interactive environments and top-notch voice work?

It did its job imo, it delivered nonstop action while throwing pretty effects at us.
I got it having the expectation of a mindless action game, nothing more.

The multiplayer, however, was atrocious.

Samon
14-04-2007, 04:29 PM
I don't expect developers to release run of the mill shooters with zero progress in terms of gameplay development simply so people can 'have nonstop action'. What a silly concept. There's no reason Quake can't be up there with some of the top shooters; the only thing holding them back is a brain-dead design philosophy that fell flat on its face when they release Doom 3.

The shittiest games are Day of Defeat, Counter-Strike, vBF2 (mods rock though), Pariah or whatever the f*ck it is called, all Rainbow Six games except Raven Shield and the very first one in the series, Splinter Cell and SC: PT, Quake 4, Doom 3, Far Cry.
Boiling Point: Road to Hell, that game takes the cake at being the crappiest game ever.

My 2 cents

Neocron; very fun cyberpunk MMORPG at first, until the company behind it completely nerfed it to buggery and drove 3/4 of its player base away. Craptacular graphics, but the atmosphere and gameplay made up for it greatly in its prime.

Chase The Express; mother ****in' terrorists on a train! Fun for a while, then became extremely repetitive, with the plot deteriorating to something Daikantana could've pulled off better.

GTA2; absolute tripe.

Totally. Some moments in FarCry rank up there with the best i've experienced in any fps. Some i've blocked out due to being awful. A game of high highs and very low lows.
