IGNPC gave this game an 8.5.
Closing Comments
Those of you looking for a leap forward in gameplay mechanics won't find
it here, but fans of C&C and fast action RTS games will likely find this return to roots very appealing for its pace and traditional play. While we were hoping for a little more creativity, we couldn't help but have fun through the game's long GDI and Nod campaigns and shorter Scrin campaign. The skirmish was also a good ride even with some of the balancing issues in play. If you're looking for a game that makes it fun as hell to blow things up and leave quickly, C&C 3 is definitely for you.
8.5 out of 10 click here for ratings guideGet Ratings Information
9.0 Presentation
Excellent job all around bringing everything together into a cohesively styled whole. The return of live action cutscenes is welcome.
9.0 Graphics
These are some brilliant visuals full of life, laughter, and burning bodies. Special effects are particularly brilliant.
8.5 Sound
Everything from the music to the acknowledgements is done well here. There are some awkward transitions between songs, but other than that, very well done.
8.0 Gameplay
Good fast action RTS with a slick interface. The pace is kept fast and fun. Some balance issues. Still basically the same RTS we've been playing for years.
8.5 Lasting Appeal
Plenty of replay value with long campaigns. Good community support for multiplayer. Skirmish AI is good enough for a challenge lending more life still.
8.5
Great OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

I think the last paragraph in that review summs it pretty well.

9.0 from GameSpot is surprisingly good. I though it would land somewhere between 7.5 - 8.5

I just don't like Gamespots' reviews. They are becoming less relevant with stuff like:
"The Bad: Game is picky with structure placement"
It's just stupid.

Well i think that is a fair point really, structure placement in the demo was a pain in the arse, and it used to be so easy in earlier games :hmph:

sarcasm?
If they choose the method of "good and bad" as quick run-down , so please at least write the real issues with the game. Like , the fact it really doesn't do anythihg different or that it doesn't have the impact as COH or SupCom.
Am i supposed to thing that "Game is picky with structure placement" is the only flaw of the game, why the hell they write it like it's a big issue? it's a mere thing that should not affect anything. Why "only" 9 if there's nothing bad then?
You can see this in alot of their other reviews. "The Bad: High system req." . Who the hell care? List the stuff that actually concerns the gameplay and quality. You can tell warn me about the req. in the body of the review.

I also hate it when high system requirements are mentioned as a bad thing in the overview of a review

Well it's out in some places and I mean more than just the internet. Picking my copy up tomorrow.
If you're so worried about those issues go buy a print magazine, PC Gamer UK mentioned that it lacks the impact of CoH/SupCom

Evo, this is not the point. The point is that as long they summarize the game's bad and good, they should keep it relevant and meaningfull.
I'm sure the reviwer mentioned graver things he didn't like in the body of the review. It should be reflected in the bullet-inns as well.
And i don't need to get printed mags for that - there are other gaming sites.

Just got released today here in the UK. Bought the Kane version. Have to say, played 5 or so missions this evening and im quite impressed. I played the demo (albeit on my slower laptop) and thought it was ok, but my PC now makes it more fun and pretty.
Ive play SupCom (zzzzz) and im pretty sure, seeing as this is good old C&C again, this is better.
8/10...so far

Online: Either learn how to tank rush as NOD or learn how to stop a tank rush. Most common tactic.

Bah, my computer has started restarting after being on for 2 hours, so I keep forgetting to save mid-mission and... bang, no more savegames.
I gave it up for 2 days...
It's pretty cool. "RTS Zen, where you don't really have to think super-hard" is probably the best description.
Damn that shaky camera though. *shakes fist*
That satellite view thingy that shows the objectives is really annoying. But shaky makes it cool! Just like bloom lighting and being X-TREEM.

One day left on the competition to win a free copy of the Kane Edition

"Tiberium Wars is Command & Conquer at its best, and an absolute blast for series fans and newcomers alike."
Command & Conquer was Command & Conquer at it's best. This is just a fresh coat of paint over a chipped and worn surface 10 years later. Copying something almost exactly and reselling it at a later date is just... sad.

Or... ummmm... linerunners? Hackers? I forget what they're called. Where are they?
I am talking the original 1995 C&C, not the blur of subsequent cash ins and all the extra bits they had to offer. This latest version is almost an exact replica, with prettier pictures and juggernaughts. woo. The formula is the same. The storyline is the same. The AI is the same. The gameplay is exactly the same. I can't think of any other game around now which is as identical in so many ways to an original over a decade old.
What this clone doesn't have is the ground breaking originality of it's dad that made it shiny and new and so addictively fun. That and i'm a mechanical man. i'm a mechanical i'm a mechanical nime a mechanical man.

Man, i wouldn't play C&C original now, because I'd be forced to stab my eyes out. C&C3 gives me a chance to relieve my childhood without having to cleanse my eyes with boiling water afterwards!
