Damn, and he makes it look so easy. I've been trying to learn that song for months, and I haven't even gotten past the intro (the intro meaning the part with the super-fast hi-hat rolls)!

LTE kicked ass for the sole reason that Tony Levin was a part of them.

But yes, LTE 1+2 were fantasic, and this kid is really quite something.

He's veeeery good. This kid uses his wrist too but grips it with his hands. The main difference is that Steve can play longer because of his grip technique compared to this kid. If he looks familiar you may recognize him the band Journey! He now has his own jazz band and tours around. The band is called "Vital Information" btw. I have seen him drum many a time and you can see him roll the drum stick on his leg in that video! :eek: Another good drummer is Rick Allen from Def Leppard. Lost his left arm in a car crash but he re-learned how to drum and is still great. Most Def Leppard songs arn't very complicated though.

He's got skill, but I wouldn't say he was amazing. He's definitely got licks and he's obviously pretty comfortable with improvising on fills and stuff, so he must have experience. Not so much with the wow factor though. Even so, at the very least he's head and shoulders above anyone else I've seen posting covers on youtube or gvideo :P

Also, he deserves credit for actually overplaying a MIKE PORTNOY SONG - who, until now, was the reigning king of overplaying :D

Anyway, I'm gonna take a cue from Hool and unnoficially turn this into a drumming video thread. Been meaning to make one anyway... if I'm derailing just give me a poke (not with the banstick plz).

Yeah that's another great drummer! :E Guys double drum peddles are fricken amazing!! *Some people may say that hardcore music drummers are great but I don't think so. Yes they can play hard and for a long time. Yet the songs are not very complicated. So the drummer can smash the sticks all he want's but does not have the finesse of the last 2 drummers posted. ;) Nor do they have the speed or can play that complicated.

For sure. Truly awesome drummers are 1 part skill, 1 part creativity and 2 parts passion. And then they need to be totally ambidextrous and interdependent with all 4 parts, while staying in time, not taking the singer/guitarist's limelight and recovering gracefully from any dropped stick/cracked cymbal/hardware mishap/etc etc :E

In this clip he always reminds me of a piano virtuoso pelting out some finger blistering rendition of Bach or Mozart or... Raminaschovskidishovitztov or... y'know, something hard, whatever.
