I know, this is my second thread in one month. But I know lot's of us have a dislike for Gear Box because of how they screwed up op4's storyline with 'Race X" (or that's what some of us think). But anyways, I got my copy of HL1 for PS2 back, and found that Gear Box had (something) to do with the PS2 version (the company name was written on the cover). SO, I ask for anyone's enlightenment on what work (if anything) gear Box did on the PS2 version.

They did Decay.

They made new models to put it on par with the PS2's graphics.

They also modified the opening scene so instead of starting on the tram you start in the civilain living quarters. You can explore Gordon's room there.

OMG, really??? Why does the black mesa source team always talk about starting on the tram then??? Does the ps2 version explain why he was late, what do the dormitories look like, and gordon's room!??!?!
INFOS, INFOS, INFOS!!!

The upgraded the models, textures etc. They made Decay. They added water to a room in one level or other to negate fall damage and a few level tweeks like that. I've heard that they added Shephard to the the lambda complex scene (that if you kill all the controllers a soldier shows up) but that's probably someone telling bullshit. I don't think that you start in Gordon's quarters, I think that Lynk is lying/confused.

They also added an introduction to the Hazard Course (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2BOGEjrJgQ&mode=related&search=)

Oh yes, I remember that. That was fairly funny/disconcerning. My second experience of HL (After the OP4 demo). It seems Gearbox are the ones who brought me into the HL series :P

@Riomhaire: You can see Gordon's quarters in Decay I was mistaken. But as far as I know you don't start on the tram in the PS2 version.

Umm, no, you start on the tram leaving "level 3 dormatories", trust me, I've played that part 4 times, twice as a vortigant :).

Wikipedia says something about you starting in Gordon's room in some game. :cheese:

I loved Decay. One of my best friends bought HL for the PS2 and we played decay through repeatedly on co-op.
I saw his savegame just before the end playing as a Vortigaunt, looked pretty cool. I can't comment on other level changes as I didn't play single-player all the way through.

Good times...

Not once in Decay have I ever seen "Gordon's room", or even heard it mentioned.

GearBox ported HL and added all that stuff to it.

In Decay you do. On that chapter "Domestic Violence" there is an open door in one of the dormiteries. It ahs "Freeman" written next to it and it is filled with soldiers.

No, you start ON THE TRAM. In Decay, there is none (that I've found) of freeman's possesions. The closest you come to Gordon is in Dual Access, where you start the Antimass Spectrometer. You hear the Monologue by Doctor Keller is it? speaking over the Income where Gordon pushes the cart.

Yeah, there are cheat codes, including Alien mode where you DO play as a Vortigant, but all you have is the electric shock, I got bored, and never made it very far, I missed my M-16, especially with infinite ammo cheat! :D

Code Green in Decay was my favorite, with the M-16's grenade launcher and invincibility lol.

I absolutly hated Decay.
