How's the browser on the Wii?
/saves thread
Darkwolf

Haha, that would be cool, and entirely possible.
Anyways, I had a fiddle with it. The browser is certainly quite... interesting. It supports java and flash scripts without hassle, and it even has video support! So... if you happen to know where there are high res videos on the internet for streaming. Go ahead and watch them!
There is also a zoom function, to combat your TV resolutions and once you zoom you can scroll around the page in much the same way as your browse the Mii channel (by holding B).
Infact the only thing that I have against the browser is that your family can look at what you are doing, also the typing can get a little tedious. As you have to use the virtual keyboard or predictive typing to type everything in.
Pretty fun so far, even if it is useless. Anyone else got the browser yet?

Hey Darkwolf, question for you.
How did you hook up your Wii to the internet? Cause i'd like to hook it up but i can't see where to place the lan cable that connects the Wii to my modem.
Whats the dealio?
Darkwolf

You have a few options for connection your Wii to the net. You can
A) Connect it to your router wirelessly
B) Connect it to your router via lan (however you need to get a USB > Lan adapter)
C) You can get this Wi-Fi kit which is to be released by nintendo, then connect it to your computer which is connected to the net.

I'm buying the USB adapter that was made for the DS since it works for the Wii. You just install the software then plug in the USB device to your PC and it'll give you a wireless signal, and that's all I think.

People say that ... but the PSP consistently puts out better games than what you find on the DS, and obviously the system itself is far superior. The only advantage the DS has is its' price.

But it sales far eclipse that of Sony's PSP. And don't forgot how much fun the touch screen is, and how much diversity it adds to gameplay. Alot of people seem to forget that.

DS Sales > PSP Sales

DS > PSP
First of all, sales really don't matter when you're playing a game. When I'm sneaking around in Portable Ops I'm not thinking, "Goddamn, this game would be so much more fun if the PSP had performed better in the 4th quarter."
Innovative controls - yeah it does. But it also seems like most games (note, I said most) use it in a very gimmicky fashion. The standard controls of the PSP really serve quite well for the types of games designed to run on it.
Graphics - yeah the PSP has better graphics, but there's more to it than that. You can watch movies, surf the internet, use it like an Ipod, and even play Nintendo games (even GBA games) on it through emulators. It's just a better console.
Finally, you listed things like control options, sales, and graphics ... then decided the DS was better. I find this hilarious considering Nintendo fans couldn't stop harping about ... the GAMES for months before the Wii release. Then it comes out and there's only one good game available, and it's a GC port. IMO the same is generally true for DS. The PSP just has better games:
Syphon Filter
GTA: VCS
GTA: LCS
MGS: Portable Ops
Killzone: Liberation
Daxter
Locoroco
Lumines 2
Metal Gear Acid 1/2
Mercury
Exit
And as far as originality, Locoroco, Lumines, Exit, and Mercury give most DS games a good run for their money. Not to mention the other PSP games that are considered by most to be very good, but I personally don't care for.
I keep thinking about how me and my friends used the Sega Dreamcast browser to look at naughty sites and used the magnifying glass on the nipples, GREAT times.

Ok fine I'll post something half way intelligent so you'll get it.
If you failed to figure it out yet I am just going to keep posting something similar to the above and have a small laugh in my head when I see people reply with a nice well thought out post. Whatever is better is just an opinion to the end user. So I can say Ds > PSP because in my opinion I am right. The same goes for the games. Your right in yours. However, please don't quote me and tell me that i'm wrong when my opinion is perfectly correct. So you can post whatever the hell you want, just don't quote me otherwise I will respond tenaciously. Ds > PSP. Microsoft > Sony. Wii > Ps3. Xbox 360 > Ps3.

Metroid Prime Hunters

Phoenix Wright
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Elite Beat Agents
Dragon Quest: Rocket Slime (plus the upcoming IX, not sure if it will be good or not)
Animal Crossing
The upcoming LoZ: Phantom Hourglass (bound to be at least good)
Warioware: Touched!
Frankly, they are on par... it all comes down to your preference in games. Do you prefer MGS or Metroid? Meteos or Lumines?... etc.

Well if you quote me Im figuring your giving me a response. Then if you go ahead and fight what I said it looks as if you are now saying what I said was wrong. And the curve stuff, well now your just being really opinionated.
btw.... Fallout Boy < Shit imo.

In the elegant (yet not quite verbatim) words of Electronic Gaming Monthly, "By the end of the year the PSP will have 255 games available; it's too bad that 250 of those games suck."
I don't rememeber the number but you get the point.

...except they've already pumped out enough quality games (with more to come) to justify the purchase of the handheld, so their point is invalid. Oh and let's not forget the emulation-heaven the PSP presents...
Besides, who cares how many shitty games the system has? It's the gem's that make it worthwhile to own the system, I couldn't care less how many shitty games were on the PS1 when I was enjoying Syphon Filter, MGS1, GT, FFT, FF7, Vagrant Story, etc etc.

However, Nintendos had and always will have multitudes of these 'gems'. I mean, we have:
Mario
Zelda
Metroid
Animal Crossing
SSB
Monkey Ball
DUCK HUNT
I mean, every single one of those franchises have produced multiple fantastic games... of course that's if you're into that sorta thing...

I'd rather go outside and play Soccer than buy a PSP. I like Soccer, it's entertaining, fun, and all I need is a $10 ball. I don't have to spend a lot of money to entertain myself. The PSP is not a justified purchase for me.

If your point is about Nintendo exclusives, well that's never been a problem, it's the 3rd party support (well, lackof) that's really been killer to GC / n64. On paper it looks like it'll change for the Wii but we'll have to wait and see whether they're any good. :)

Err... ok? I'd rather play LAN Vice City stories (or PES6) on a bus with a couple of friends rather than attempting to play soccer in the same situation. It's more convenient, less distracting to other passengers, and it doesn't break out a sweat when I only want to kill a bit of time. I don't have to spend a lot of money to entertain myself either, but I don't see the reasoning behind all the PSP bashing other than 'ZOMG SONY SUX LOLOLOL!'

I play Soccer in small spaces all the time. It's fun. Who cares about other passengers? If they dislike it they can jump out of a window.

Just been playing my new Wii and it's pretty awesome. My arm hurts after playing all the Wii sports games though. Tennis is great when you figure out how to aim the ball.
The cursor on in the menus feels amazing and I hope a decent RTS comes out. I like the little notes you get in your inbox that tells you how many hours you've been playing each game for.
3 hours into Zelda and I only just got the green suit. Aiming the slingshot is very cool using the remote to aim. Not as accurate as a mouse when trying to move quickly, but still 10x better than analog sticks.

I understand this isn't really a counter-point to whom you were replying too, but nonetheless: Third-party games doesn't always mean great ones. Besides GTA (great franchise no-doubt about it I'll admit that) you're left with TOTALLY SWEET NINJA FIGHTING GAMES like "Rengoku." (as far as psp goes) Oh wait, that game totally blows.

What are you talking about? Almost all the best games on PSP are third party, and I didn't even know there was a Rengoku PSP game until you mentioned it.
To Zephos - excellent point. It really does come down to taste. Only a few of the games you listed actually appeal to me, but I realize many people would prefer them over a new Metal Gear or GTA.

Countless number of games actually, since technically you have to play every game differently with the new controller.
Just see Madden 07. You'd expect it to play the same on every platform, but the only one it's actually different on is the Wii.
Anyway... checking your thread creation history shows that your opinion is about as void as a farting monkeys.
