Will the Wii sell out on the first day?

What do you think? Will the nintendo Wii sell out on the first day, or will nintendo uphold its promise and ship millions of units. Will the demand be raving, or will there be no demand?

It's really hard for me to judge. The majority of people I talk to (who are not on this board) shun the wii like the devil. They think picking one up will somehow make them "gay" or "a kid"

Some people are just absolute xenophobes (@gay/kid things). The sort of stuff they mean is part of Japanese culture that just isn't appreciated over here.

On topic: Some more remotish areas may sell out, but otherwise doubtful.

The pre-orders everywhere around my city have been sold out for months. Yet everyone I talk to still thinks the Wii is shit. :/

were I live the wii will be gone in seconds the greedy walmart employes buy a bunch before 12.01 in the morning and people buy tons at a time and sell themon ebay for more then what ya pay for em.then hardley ANYONE will get one. luckey for folks here are walmart is only gonna limit one wii to each person same with the ps3. im getting a xbox 360 instead I want to get halo 3 and all the other games to come The wii is $225 or 255

They're going to sell well... but Nintendo produced a crapload of them so I think there will be enough for demand.

I simply just don't care for it. It doesn't have any interesting games in my opinion. Red Steel looks alright, but that's about it.

I'm sure it'll sell fine, but I don't see a big sell out.

I remember last year when the great XOBOX 360 sellout only like it was last year. I went to wallmart there was a line that went back to the store and it was not even time to sell them. I played the console and etc. the next day or day after i saw a emloye come from out the doors and he was carrying a xbox360 I figured oh ok maybe he had one held for him THEN I SAW THEM over twenty 360s in a stack i only saw them for a few seconds empolyes were picking them up and taking them THEY ONLY LET 6 PEOPLE IN WALMART BUY THEM THAT DAY and the employes got the rest. Not fair. well this year everybody will be busy getting the wii and ps3 so it Should be easy getting the 360. if not I give up.

I'll bet it will sell-out in Japan, but maybe not the US. It'll sell like mad, but if they have made as many units as they say they have, I don't think it will sell-out. However, right around Christmas it may be difficult to find one in your local boutique....

I'm kind of up and down with the Wii, I keep getting almost excited for it then falling short when I find there is only a small selection of games that don't really appeal.

I'd really appreciate it if some people could give me a quick run down on some of the better games to expect (I know of Zelda and Wii Play, both of which sound ace, but others like Excite Truck or Red Steel just look abit naff D: )

My original plan was to camp out for the system, but now I'm having my second thoughts.Me too (a bit), but what is happening with the DS right now is giving me much hope for the Wii. Devs are seeing how popular it is and how innovative it is and they are getting on board and realizing that there is A LOT of money to be made in producing games for MUCH cheaper than the other 2 consoles and selling to just as many if not more people. The Wii should get a ton of love from developers over the next year or 3. No worries.

I hope the Wii sells out just to help the console get off to a good start. If Wii's are flying off the shelves developers will notice and we should end up with a crap load of decent games. The potential is there, it just needs the software.

That's true, but Nintendo are already loaded. 3rd party software is what the Wii really needs and for that developers want a large user base.

I already expect Nintendo to do great things on the Wii, that's a given. What I really want to see is what companies like Capcom and Konami could do if they gave the Wii the kind of attention they give to the MGS and Resident Evils of this world.

Doesn't matter if sells out, as long as it sells well enough. Besides, I can't find a shop here that takes preorders yet, and Amazon won't start until the 21st of November.

Hopefully it'll be possible to walk into a store and pick one up.
