I like Power metal bands especially Power metal and Melodic bands. Sonata Arctica is perfect for that. Just discovered them about 2 weeks ago, and I can't believe I missed something like that. I ordered all their albums.

I like, by and large, indierock/indie/artrock/garagerock/new wave/nu-rave(HATE that term but hey) groups, and ALWAYS looking for new stuff...

I loathe metal in almost all it's forms :p along with a lot of ambient electronic stuff.

Quite the opposite to most members here - but hey, each to their own...

Same shit I've been listening to for the last few years. I have, however, developed a (most probably unhealthy) addiction to Autechre. Probably because I've bought a few more releases from them recently. It astonishes me how they can sound so different with every album/EP and still carry their distinct stamp of craftmanship.

I bought Amber recently. Not listened to it yet, but it's on the pile of CD's next to my computer.

I've also been listening to alot of Send More Paramedics, who I think you might like, VictimofScience, as theres some real good 80's crossover going on in that shit. I've finally got around to buying their CD's so I can now see them live again (twice now) and actually know the songs properly.

That's often considered to be their ambient album. There are quite a few parts of it that really aren't, but on the whole it's a far softer and warmer album than any of their other releases. Not as tinny and cold as Incunabula, nowhere near as industrial/mechanical as Tri Repetae. It basically serves to fill any doubt that exists regarding their ability for melody and emotion (namely "Slip").

I had to delete all of my music off of my computer (I still have it on my MP3 player, but I don't use it when at the computer, so.....)

The only album that I have on my computer at the moment is
Ganging Up On The Sun by Guster because I accidentally missed it while on a deleting spree to make space for WoW.

I acquired this album mostly because of the song One Man Wrecking Machine, and at first I found the rest of the album OK, nothing spectacular. Not the kind of music I normally listen to (Industrial, IDM, Downtempo electronica etc...).

Well, I've been listening to it a lot seeing as it's all I have to listen to, (I keep leaving my CD case in the car) and it's grown on me. Big time. I really like the song Dear Valentine as homoerotic as that sounds. At least it's not country *cough* dekstar *cough*

See what you think of Lis Er Stille... Danish post-rock-ish band. You can listen to all their music here: http://liserstille.mymusic.dk/diskografi/album.asp?id=545

Only reason I mention them is, parts of it seem a little similar to Muse... things like the piano part on Forsyn, around the 6-minute mark. Maybe something like what Muse might sound like if they turned post-rock? Anyways, their music is pretty cool.

[edit] Actually on second thought.. maybe not. Apart from Muse they're not much similar to anyone else on your list :P.

This week has mostly been A Silver Mt. Zion and Deftones. The Horses in the Sky album is amazing; can't help but sing along to it at.. well, at all times. The new Deftones is great too, save one or two tracks, but songs like Mein, Hole in the Earth, Combat and Kimdracula. Bit of Aphex Twin here and there, Classics and Caustic Window.

This weekend I've been playing alot of Atreyu, though, for some strange reason. They aren't that bad actually. The vocals, both the more melodic and 'screamed' vocals, are both great, but when it comes to the fast 'metal' drums and the widdly-diddly 'metal' guitar solos it just gets cringeworthy, which is a shame because some of the songs have some great sections of goodness, but countered by their metal side. Ehh.
