View Full Version : My 6 inch Strider :)

During the past few weeks I've been playing about with this clay called Super Sculpey, Anyway. A few days ago I created a Mini-Strider about 6 inches tall. Before anyone complains, I porposefully shortened the legs and fattened it all up to look a but more interesting.

Making rubble or a building for a base is beyond my abilty so the scene is a small park, with some random wires, boxes and bushes. ;)

It's not too accurate but I'm fairly pleased with it, I do enjoy looking over at my window shelf and seeing Stridey stalking along. :rolling:

I've got millions of finished and progress piccys on my art site >>>> Mark Evered's Portfolio (http://markevered.atspace.com/realSTRIDER.htm)

Tell me what you think, don't be too harsh though.

I live in Uk and have never seen it in shops, so I got it from THEPOLYMERCLAYPIT (http://www.polymerclaypit.co.uk/acatalog/Super_Sculpey.html) (top of page)

It's quite expensive although you'll get loads of use from one block. You can bake it in the oven. :)

Thanks again guys

I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think that would violate copyrights.

Ever tried working with "green stuff"? I think you'd do quite well sculpting Warhammer-ish stuff.

xombie, lol; yeh I know.... (soz, just had to say it)

Ever tried working with "green stuff"? I think you'd do quite well sculpting Warhammer-ish stuff.

-Angry Lawyer

This is my first go at sculpting but I did read into that "Green stuff" stuff, If I remember right I think I was put off by the fact that it's air hardening and (apparantly) VERY difficult to use. I do like the way you can harden super sculpey at will with a heat gun or rub some alcohol in to soften it up. mmmm. I would like to have a go with some "green stuff" though, might be fun. :naughty:

MMmmm Yes.I would love to sell some of this stuff as pretty soon I'm gonna have NO room left to keep it all but I have absolutely NO idea what to price it at. There are no items even remotely similer to these kind of things anywhere (that I can find anyway).

I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think that would violate copyrights.

Hehe, in that case it would become a "Sea creature-like Alien War Machine, based loosely on a popular video game..."

:D

Just take into account the prices of the materials + cash you'd like to make on it = final price. 60 bucks seems an okay price for HANDMADE (stress that a lot :p) models

That strider looks pretty awesome, fo' sho. I'd like to see one owning a few rebels though. Maybe shove a small battery powered LED in the barrel of the gun for the "Just toasted some rebels" look.

Thanks guys :)

Gunship tis done, GUNSHIP (http://markevered.atspace.com/realCOMBINEGUNSHIP.htm)

It might not be perfect but I'm proud of it. I got completely stumped on making the propeller bit at the back so I left it out and added some interesting sea below to give it a bit of movement.

As I was away, I had no possible way of getting any pics or anything so I made some Zombies from memory, HERE (http://markevered.atspace.com/realZOMGS.htm) .
O yes, and a tiny Lamarr (how DO you spell that?) enjoying a watermelon.

Noob question: Does anyone know if all the eBays are interlinked? So if I put something on the Uk ebay it would show up on the us? I assume it does, but I thought it would be better to check.

Those are great, man. Loving the other stuff on your site too, esp. the Futurscape. I did a GCSE art piece in Landscape with elements from futuristic architecture, so I can relate to that.. somewhat.

Andy McNab and Chris Ryan books, too.

Because it's practically the exact same technique :P (minus the texture stuff he does)

Not that it's a bad thing, it obviously works damn well for him :)

keep it up!

Your spelling of it is even worse.

Anyway, it's possible that that tire is part of the style of "tooned" cars. I dunno.

You should see it before its baked, It's all soft and gooey, I sit there with is all over my hands and fight the temptation to give it a lick. Lovely stuff, toxic though :(
