Thats an awesome deal if you don't mind a single core CPU. hehe
But it is at 2.6GHz and with unlocked multipliers you might OC pretty well.

Cool, but it doesn't compare to some of the new processors coming out.

Hmm, I'd buy it, except I already have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+

maybe I'll buy the FX-55 and just give someone my current processor! :p

But if you could OCed your X2 3800+ enough then it would be better than the FX 55 all around.

That would be alot of OCing though! I don't think I have dry ice hiding in my case....

Single 1MB L2 cache is an old school too...Single core? Meh! FX55 and 57 is such waste of money nowadays at any price IMO.

or should I bet getting this???

In other case the X2 4400+ (89W) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103626 does overclock crazy and out performs king FX 62, but if we talk about something serious and close to conroe we should look at socket AM2's 4600+ (65W) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103749 You're crazy. This chip will make your case get up and stand then take a walk. Hallelujah!!! Its walking!!! Downside though is that; Its got dual 512KB L2 Cache instead of the 2x1MB L2.

Good Luck.

The whole reason I posted this is FOR THOSE ppl that had a old 939 system and didn't have the money to get a all new C2D system, new mobo, DDR2, PCI-E video card. The AMD X2 3800 has gone up to 180.00. The FX-55 San Diego 1.35/1.4V/unlocked multi. for 139.00 with free shipping is just insane pricing, hell the 939 4000+ is 209.00 at newegg. I got one so I can hold out for a C2D & mobo with the C55 chipset till after the first of the year when I do a whole system.

To all the C2D is faster ppl, DAHHHHHHH lol. good grief. Sure a dual core is nice to have you bet I am dying to get one to. I mostly game, is a dual core faster then a single core cpu in a single threaded game NO. The game titles of next year UT2007, Crysis, Alan Wake yes they will use multi threading and the Dual cores you all have now will play awsome.

PS: ASUS I have seen alot of ppl getting the FX-55 to 3.2 & 3.4 on AIR, I will be happy with 3.0.
