[HELP] hl2.exe not responding after cs source is opened

My cs souce/d.o.d closes after i open it.. saying that hl2.exe has encountered a problem a needs to close.
i re-installed it twice but it keeps saying that.

can someone tell me how to fix this please? thanks

Try verifying your cache files... sounds like a corruption.

Right click hl2 in the games list, go properties, local files, and then "verify integrity of the cache files" (or whatever it says).

Do that for CSS and DODS as well. That will fix your problem.

They share the same base content, and it's hl2.exe that's having the error... so yes.

i verifed hl2 deathmatch and it stills not respond

Did you buy online, or with a boxed copy?

i bought the real copy in a shop and registered the games on steam
