That was my problem. I'm probably one of the most uncoordinated guys on this earth, so moving from Chord-to-chord was a real pain in the ass for me.

were u just fretting random notes and playing? anyway, i have been playing for 3 years and i play most heavy stuff. as for chord changing, u need to 'feel' the chords first before playing them. whenever i learn a chord, i close my eyes and try to feel that chord. then i play it with other chords i noe. do it slowly and increase the speed as you go.

Not much showoff stuff, but the song "Sirens and Titans" has some fast guitarplaying, as well as some Santana style soloing in the beginning.
Oh, there's some "semi-shredding" in the middle part of "A Vulture's Song".

Much like Slacker, I have no coordination with guitars. I got an acoustic, but I can't play very well. I should get lessons, but I doubt they'd be any use.
Pressure
01-10-2006, 01:54 AM
Sure... Here's goes lesson one. I call it the power of solos. In this video I show you how a true metal guitarist improvises his solos. Try to pick up some of my techniques. The solo is about 3 minutes long and uses a lot of common speed metal trade marks. Take a look!
(Please give the video a few minutes to process as I just uploaded it now.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8H4N-Vf_u8
Also, I will not be giving out the tabs. A true metal guitarist can tab out a song just by listening to it. If you can't do it by ear watch my fingers.
This must all be some sort of sick joke.

Been playing for 8 years now, can also play bass (if you can play the guitar then bass comes pretty easy) and the keyboard. I played in a band for two years whilst in secondary school, mainly playing gigs around the area for extra cash, and participating (and generally winning xD) the battle of the bands contests hosted by the diffirent venues. Back then we played Metallica songs mostly, and trust me, some of those songs must have taken me 6 months of pure practice to master. When we got to college we split up but are still very good mates (we split up to concentrate on work in college since secondary school was easy we got away with dedicating a lot of time to the music). I have no interest in going on to form a band and 'attempt' to make it big, the lifestyle doesn't exactly suite me, plus I have other better plans for the future ;) Since the split up, me and my girlfriend (awsome bass player) have been jamming together just for fun, we usually play Muse songs now. Matt Bellamy must be one of the most talented musicians of the 21st century.

Clearly you haven't been playing for 8 years as you wouldn't be a beginner, or you have and you have put in hardly any practice or dedication into your playing. I'm not a master player, but that doesn't mean I can't recognize bad playing.
I'm a crap teacher anyway, mostly because I'm like, "dammit kid, you suck." Not to mention I play bass exclusively.
Anyway, if this is really the best you can play, I apologize. Just... next time, don't be all "I'm the best player ever" because, well, you're not :/

You should have come on the topic and said 'hey I have been playing for a month and Im starting to get the hang of it, here is some videos of what I can do at the moment', but when you come on say that playing Metallica is easy, well you deserve the abuse lol.
I don't see your videos. At least I'm putting forth an effort here
Im not the type who wants to show off their skills on the internet as I aint showing off type of guy, in my time playing I played for fun and extra money. Putting forth an effort? So making videos of crap playing and saying after you post them that you are a master of playing the guitar is portraying the amount of effort you put in? I dont think so mate.

The great thing about playing Master of Puppets is to be able to play its awsome intro, it was playing over the top and you weren't even playing it, I take that because you cant play it. The power chords were completely out of time and disfunctioned, there was no rythme or speed in the power chords and you weren't even implementing the palm mutes between the power chords either. So im sorry but no it wasn't good at all, I didn't even know what you were doing throughout the piece. Learn how to read tabs or the music itself, get them off the internet (even though they are usually inaccurate) and learn how to play the songs properly. Or better yet, go get some guitar lessons from a teacher.

Because I wrote that song with the intention of it being absolutely horrible. I have better recordings, although considering I usually do drums for them and spend a good time mixing multiple tracks, I never have the will to really do anything of any length.
Even so:
(Note: some of these have the volume pretty loud, so you might want to turn down your speakers a bit)

Everything there aside from "The Moor" and "Messing with the Kid" was recorded with a direct input. Still, with my crappy equipment it doesn't sound that great, and I'm hardly a pro when it comes to mixing. My biggest problem is eliminating static on rhythm guitars when distortion is used. If anyone has any tips, feel free to share. :B

i have to agree with CB. 3 years is not alot of time for a band or musician, and there already is generic crap like that out there, youre not bringing anything new to the scene! what i'm waiting to see is ppl doing different stuff with the guitar!
if we're going to be bastards to people, seriously, hneaz, your rhythm is uneven as ****. get a metronome
plus, everyone needs different amounts of time to evolve, it's not a ****ing race, and not everyone has time to practice every single hour of the day..
i also play the guitar, just started out though.. but i've been playing piano/synth for a longer while so I*m finding it quite easy to learn stuff since i already have a reasonable idea of music theory. I just learned to play stairway to heaven :) can't even begin to get that solo right though
The great thing about playing Master of Puppets is to be able to play its awsome intro, it was playing over the top and you weren't even playing it, I take that because you cant play it. I'm sorry but you shouldn't even attempt to teach someone, you're a ****ing dolt. Go practice solos by your heroes instead of poisoning promising aspirants with your negative attitude. it only reflects how insecure you are about your own playing.

Pressure, you're awful at guitar. :\
Not something you should try showing off, let alone put on YouTube.
This is coming from someone who has played guitar for four years. Your playing is just WAY too sloppy. Your picking is absolutely disgusting. It's as though you're just moving your hand really fast without worrying about what you're hitting. Don't play faster than you're able to.
[EDIT]
Jeez dude. I just read some more of your posts. I am probably better than you and I only tell people I'm somewhat decent.

Exclaiming your disapproval for this type of humor isn't going to make it funny, it's not going to make it go away, and it sure as hell isn't going to make everyone magically agree with you. Thats the general concensus, i can't stand Chris' voice so i can't listen to AS, RATM and Jach is better....it just is. My friend who has a Tom Morrelo obsession learnt how to play all those solos and mimic those effects too, it's very impressive, like the wah wah at the start of Bulls on Parade. I hate Shredding.
It's not the fact that I can't actually do it, it's just that it doesn't sound nice to me at all. I'm more of a melodic person tbh.Shredding can be incredibly melodic - just listen to any Necrophagist solo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owNBEShKFqs). However, a lot of guitarists just don't know when to slow down, and shredding without melody can be really, really shitty if not done in the right context.
I don't have any videos of myself because I'm just not that good. I admitted to not being as good as that guy - I just said I could play at the same speed, which is not difficult. Once you get the picking motion down it's just a matter of being able to learn the scales and play through them really fast, which, again, takes time, but is not particularly difficult.
Granted, if you don't normally use fast picking, tremelo picking, etc. then I can see why playing quickly could be quite unsettling. I do assume that you all know how to do alternate picking... some people I know have been playing for longer than I have and had no idea about it; once they learned it, they improved their playing by a very large amount very quickly.
Nothing can stop pressure now....really..nothing can stop him now.

That's hardly better to me. I actually want to pee on my computer when I listen to that.

Your fingers begin to bleed (well, almost) but once you get that...erm...stuff(?) over the top of your fingers then the strings won't hurt to fret :)
Callous?

My fingers bleed even with those. Some say it's because I play so hardcore... and that's true.
