Holy moly, this game just looks better and better!
however, I'm still dissapointed in the ugly pixelated shadows.

One of the devs on the forum mentioned that the shadows are going to be rectified, but isn't at the top of their priority list.
But I am interested in how everything moves ingame now. They are showing the latest build (not the one shown at E3)

Looks awesome, but whats all this talk about simulation? Do you just make a move order and it simulates or is it real time that you really command everything? Because they keep on talking about simulating.

You have the standard orders, but whilst in combat, much of the stuff is simulated.
Example 1: Wind effects a rockets (not missile) trajectory
Example 2: A tank shoots its gun at an enemy tank, but a mech moves between you and the other tank, and the mech gets hit by the shot.
Example 3: A tank shoots its gun at an enemy tank, but the enemy tank then moves in the opposite direction so the shot misses.
Example 4: If your tank shoots its gun before it is taken out by the enemy tank, the shot doesn't disappear. It will travel until it hits something. Incidentally it hits the enemy tank, which too gets destroyed.

Has that ever been done in an RTS before?

I didnt even notice the pixelated shadows...
The fact that a small battle in this is a big battle in other RTSs makes me smile :)

Heh, I remember in Total Annihilation, I'd take my scout planes, and i'd send them at the enemy base, and their AA would be shooting at me, and I'd just fly randomly, seeing missles miss..I thought it was amasing.
Wow.
Has that ever been done in an RTS before?Yes, it was done in Total Annihilation... from 1997. I remember one time I launched a nuclear missile at my enemy's base. Right before it hit the ground, a plane flew underneath it and blew up the plane, and the explosion did far less damage than normal. The game's physics were excellent and meant that every battle was always never set in stone... and you really had to use the environment to your advantage.

Or if you're fighting the computer, 5 Big Berthas.....
That is all.
Damn the computer was way too easy on hard. :(

This and you guys talking about TA makes me definently agree it's probably the best RTS ever, it beats SC down.
Remember when Gamespy or someone had a 'top 100 rts games' and TA was #1 and all the SC fans/fan sites where in a rage ? Good days. :)

TA was definatley good. I originally got it out of a bargain bin as a game I could play at my grandparent's house over one long weekend. I ended up not leaving the computer room there for three straight days and then playing it constantly when I got home. I could not beleive such an old game could be so good. I instantly put down the other RTS games I was playing (homeworld, ground control and ST armada) and immediatley began playing them.
TA spring is also very excellent.

spring for life!
However, Company of Heroes has been the only RTS game to fully pull me away from TA. I havent played a single game of TA spring since COH beta came out.

bliggidy blah blah.
Heh, yeah, I remember I got the game from a friend, because he forgot it at my house, then moved away. It was mad fun, but playin off of GameSpy Arcade made me want to die.
Then when I played Spring, it was when it was first released, so it was still pretty buggy, but fun none-the-less!
