Team Fortress set during 7 hour war?

I need some clarification on this. I never saw any official news confirming that, but one of the Polish websites devoted to Half-Life series says that TF2 is set during the seven hours war.

This is shocking news to me and I need to proove to the news' author how wrong he is ;) So I need your help with that :)

TF2 doesn't even take place in the Half-Life universe as far as I know.

If TF2 was set during the seven hour war then it would not be TF, it would be Half-Life.

I can't tell you which little birdie told me this, but someone that downloaded the leaked source code, met with me in a dark pub corner this summer (a member from this forum i won't mention, this is all true i swear and promise), and he told me that from that the original TF2 game was going to be based on the 7 hour war. After the leakage and everything it seemed they scrapped the idea and they've gone for something totally different now. So there you go.

True, but there were alot of wild roumours flying around when people found code for pilotable striders in the HL2 code or something... I cant quite remember...

That's probably where they were going, but with the Leak they must have shifted that content into HL2 DM and EPI:4...

Although I always thought it was strange that DM was meant to have been by a couple of the Valve guys fiddling around in their spare time.

HL2DM was made by one guy in Lionhead, I believe.

Well the leak did contain code to a work in progress 7 hour based tf game.

Good job really, it'd have been too similar to ET:QW, which is set during the Strogg war from Quake 2. At least now is has some charm as it a bit different from your average class based FPS.

TF 2 was originally going to be set in the 7HW, but they changed it. (For the 50th time. I'm glad Valve finally made up their mind)

Hmmm, How about the fact that the 7 hour war was against combine, why would man fight each other as their territories fall? The 7 hour war wasn't even a concept until AFTER HL1's huge success, and when HL 1 was released, so was TF 2. I don't know who told you, but even if valve started working on HL2 directly after HL1, I don't think they came up with the 7 hour war until after the whole story line was set out... so, tell these Polish fans all this, and more... it's just not possible!

I don't know if this topic derailed yet but...

VALVe said they had a had 3 version of TF2, one we saw in 99/01 (the one dub the "realistic version") and then valve went underground for a long time, and in an interview i had seen, VAVLe said they had a version of the game that we never saw (this is dub the "Lost version") but i believe i know what that version was (not 100% sure btw, this is a guess at best).

so i believe TF2 2nd version was an sci-fi MP game, the only reason why i think they drop it was it's been done to death...


so now we have the cartoon version that everyone is getting hyped about :-)

Team fortress is a quake 1 mod. I dont think the port to goldsrc or tfc 2 has anything to do with Half life

I honsetley don't beleive that Team Fortress 2 would be set in the Seven Hour War.
1. Look at the graphics, it's obviusly not meant to be taken as part of a serious timeline or anything to that effect.
2. It's called Team Fortress 2, not Half Life.
3. I found out that there's supposedly a sort of "back story" to Team Fortress 2 and that it has to do with a rocket or something, but there's honsetley almost no connection between it and the Half Life universe.
I'll try to search for the source, I think it was some interview or preview, I'm not really sure.

In the end I beleive that Team Fortress 2 has nothing to do with the Half Life Universe, but that's just my opinion.
P.S., yes I'm new here and this is my first post.
